Woman ‘grabbed from behind, sexually assaulted’ at St Kilda bar

A man is wanted by police for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman at a bar in St Kilda on Saturday night.

According to the woman, aged 39, the man grabbed her from behind as she walked through a crowded dancefloor at The Vineyard, a bar on Acland Street, and sexually assaulted her.

The incident occurred at about 1:30am, and the man was last seen almost an hour later leaving the venue with another man, walking south-east along Acland Street, toward Elwood.

Police say the suspect is believed to be aged between 30 and 50, has black hair, an olive complexion and a medium build.

He was wearing a white shirt, black jeans and brown shoes.

According to police, the second man is believed to be aged between 30 and 40, has a slim build and was wearing black shoes and a blue shirt with a white collar.

Police are looking into whether the man is also suspected in other sexual assault cases.

Police investigators have released CCTV footage and images of the men they believe can assist them with their enquiries.
