Mathematics (from Greek μάθημα máthēma, “knowledge, study, learning”) is the study of topics such as quantity, (numbers), structure, space, and change. There is a range of views among mathematicians and philosophers as to the exact scope and definition of mathematics.

Mathematicians seek out patterns and use them to formulate new conjectures. Mathematicians resolve the truth or falsity of conjectures by mathematical proof. When mathematical structures are good models of real phenomena, then mathematical reasoning can provide insight or predictions about nature. Through the use of abstraction and logic, mathematics developed from counting, calculation, measurement, and the systematic study of the shapes and motions of physical objects. Practical mathematics has been a human activity from as far back as written records exist. The research required to solve mathematical problems can take years or even centuries of sustained inquiry.

Number Notation[edit]

Numbers Name Count
0 Zero
1 One *
2 Two **
3 Three ***
4 Four ****
5 Five *****
6 Six ******
7 Seven *******
8 Eight ********
9 Nine *********

Roman Numerals[edit]

There's no representation of the number '0' in the Roman Numerals.

Number Roman Numeral Name
1 I One
5 V Five
10 X Ten
50 L Fifty
100 C Hundred
500 D Five Hundred
1000 M One Thousand

The rest of the numbers can be written from the above table

Examples:
1 as I
2 as II
3 as III
When you prefix a Roman Numeral with other Roman Numeral the value decreases, for example prefixing Roman Numeral 'I' to the Roman Numeral 'V' gives you the result as 4 which is written as 'IV'. Similarly, 'XC' gives you the result 90 by decreasing the value of 100 by 10. 'CD' gives you the result 400 by decreasing the value of 500 by 100. But, when you add same Numerals the result is doubled, in detail 'I' as 1 'II' as 2 whereas 'MM' gives you the result 2000.

Addition:[edit]

Mathematics has four basic arithmetic operations, one of the operation is 'Addition'. It's denoted by the symbol '+', the term 'addition' can also be called as 'sum'. Summing up or adding up 2 numbers or more is called as 'Addition'.

Examples:

Let's take two different numbers 3 and 4, addition of these two numbers mathematically is written as 3+4 and in terms of words is written as sum of 3 and 4.

Let's check out the result for 3+4=7, if you get a doubt how did it give the result 7 check out the below example

We have chosen two different numbers 3 and 4, let's focus on the number 3. Take 3 balls O O O and now the other number is 4, so take 4 balls O O O O.

Here we are about to add the two numbers 3 and 4, clubbing all balls together O O O O O O O and now count them all gives you the result 7 which is 3+4=7.

Example with Picture:[edit]

The first container containing 3 balls and the other container containing 4 balls when all balls added together in the last container gives the result of 7 balls.
