Australian Financial Review's new iPhone app

The Australian Financial Review is delighted to introduce our new iPhone app, designed to keep subscribers up-to-date and in the know throughout their busy lives.

We know our readers are busy throughout the day coming in and out of meetings, on and off planes, or even just commuting. Our new app has been designed to be an easy-to-navigate, fast app to meet these demands.

The app will be updated continuously, offering subscribers not only breaking news, but our in-depth analysis and commentary on must-read topics. The app will also serve as an edition-based take on the biggest events and developments of the day.

All of the Financial Review's much-loved sections are featured, including Street Talk, Chanticleer and Rear Window. A selection of our latest magazines means in-depth, thought-provoking coverage is never far away.

After winning the 2016 Pacific Area Newspaper Publishers Award for best app or mobile site, the Financial Review decided to launch a universal app to meet the growing demand for news on smartphones. It fits our revived mantra of being 'The Daily Habit of Successful People'.

It means users can download one app and have it available for them on both devices – iPhone and iPad.

The iPhone app has been developed to offer a fast and smooth experience. All of the Financial Review's in-depth interactives will also be available, allowing readers to dive into the data behind the story.

Lingering for longer

The new interface, on both iPhone and iPad, will have readers lingering for longer and spending more time reading our content.

The app has been designed with busy users in mind, allowing readers to quickly scan for the latest news and read the content that matters to them.

The app's shortcuts page allows readers to quickly jump to the sections they care more about, such as business, markets, leadership or lifestyle. It also offers a quick way to find our award-winning magazine content, such as The Australian Financial Review Magazine.

Top Stories also offers readers a quick way to access all the latest news, curated by the Financial Review newsdesk, by simply scrolling down the page.

For those who want to know what's happening right now, the Latest News page offers readers our last 50 published stories, newest first.

Readers can quickly see the stories they've read with headlines changing to grey after they are read.

Early test users of the app have responded with lots of positive feedback about the "look and feel" of the app, saying its layout is easy to navigate and a welcome addition to their Financial Review subscription.

"Really good and easy-to-use interface," one subscriber wrote in a message to me Tuesday. We welcome further comments and suggestions.
