Police have charged a 37-year-old man over shooting 19-year-old Jake Turner in the thigh on Tuesday in Midvale.

Police spokeswoman Ros Weatherall said the man was wanted by police to help with inquiries in the matter, and was charged after being located at a Hazelmere property on Wednesday night.

Mr Turner was rushed to Royal Perth Hospital after he was shot in the thigh outside a Ferguson Street property around 12.45pm.

Earlier reports suggested the shooting may have been drug-related.

On Tuesday, Mr Turner remained in a stable condition in hospital.

The 37-year-old man of no fixed address was charged with acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm and possess firearm in circumstances of aggravation.

He is due to face Midland's Magistrates court on Thursday.
