Ryan Gosling has secured his position as a Hollywood heart-throb in a touching speech at the Golden Globes.
The 36-year-old took home the gong for best performance by a male actor in a motion picture for his role in the musical dramedy La La Land and thanked his partner Eva Mendes for carrying the load at home, allowing him to make the film.

Accepting the Golden Globe for best actor in a musical, Ryan Gosling gets emotional as he dedicates the award to his wife's brother.
"While I was singing and dancing and playing piano and having one of the best experiences I have ever had on a film, my lady was raising our daughter, pregnant with our second and trying to help her brother fight his battle with cancer," he said.
"If she hadn't have taken all that on so that I could have this experience, it would surely be someone else up here other than me today. So sweetheart, thank you."
Mendes' brother Juan Carlos lost his battle with cancer last April. The funeral was held the same week she gave birth to their daughter Amanda who was born just 12 days after he died.
Gosling concluded his speech by dedicating his award to the memory of Juan Carlos in one of the most heartfelt moments of the ceremony.

Earlier he also paid tribute to his co-star Emma Stone and La La Land director Damien Chazelle, offering to chop the award into three because it was for all of them.
