The Economist Espresso is a new morning briefing from the editors of The Economist. Delivered to your smartphone or inbox before breakfast, it tells you what’s on the global agenda in the coming day, what to look out for in business, finance and politics and, most importantly, what to make of it.

When is The Economist Espresso published?


The Economist Espresso is published each weekday morning in three editions for the Americas, Europe and Asia.

How can I access The Economist Espresso?


The Economist Espresso can be accessed either via an iPhone or Android smartphone. You will be able to download The Economist Espresso as a free app from your device’s app store.

If you are a free reader, you will be able to view one article of your choosing from The Economist Espresso each day. If you are an existing subscriber with a digital element or if you have purchased a subscription to The Economist Espresso directly, you will have full access daily.

How do I access The Economist Espresso if I purchased a subscription with a digital element directly from Economist.com?


If you are a subscriber who has purchased a subscription with a digital element directly from Economist.com, you should log in to The Economist Espresso using your Economist.com e-mail address and password.

How do I access The Economist Espresso if I purchased a subscription with a digital element via post or phone?


If you are a subscriber who has purchased a subscription with a digital element via post or phone you will need to activate your digital access to enable full access to The Economist Espresso. To activate your digital access, please locate your customer reference number (CRN), which is found on the mailing label of your print copy and carry out the following;

1. Visit www.economist.com/subscriptions/activation and log in or register for a free account
2. Enter your print customer reference number (CRN) and follow the on-screen instructions

If you have not yet received your first print copy, please follow the instructions in your welcome e-mail or contact customer service for more information (see below for details).

After you have activated the digital element of your subscription, you will be able to log in to The Economist Espresso using your Economist.com e-mail address and password.

How do I purchase a subscription to The Economist Espresso in-app?


To purchase a subscription to The Economist Espresso in-app, please:

1. Open The Economist Espresso app
2. Tap the menu icon at the top right of the screen
3. Tap Subscribe and follow the on-screen instructions

Please note that a subscription purchased in-app provides you with full access to The Economist Espresso and not to any other print or digital elements of The Economist.

How do I restore my subscription to The Economist Espresso?


If you purchased a subscription for The Economist Espresso and have lost your access, you can restore your subscription by doing the following:

1. Open The Economist Espresso app
2. Tap the menu icon at the top right of the screen
3. Tap the Restore subscription option and follow the on-screen instructions

How do I share an article in The Economist Espresso?


To share an article, please:

1. Open The Economist Espresso app
2. Open the article you would like to share
3. Scroll to the bottom of the article and tap Share this story
4. Tap your chosen method of sharing from the populated list and follow the on-screen instructions

Please note that the populated list of sharing methods will be based on the sharing methods installed on your device.

How do I delete an issue of The Economist Espresso?


Unfortunately you are unable to delete an issue of The Economist Espresso from your device.

However, only one issue of The Economist Espresso will be stored on your device at any given time. Multiple issues are unable to be stored and therefore limited device storage will be used by The Economist Espresso.

How do I stop receiving push notifications and auto-downloaded issues on iPhone?


1. Go to ‘Settings’ on your device
2. Tap ‘Notification Centre’ in the left hand column
3. Tap Espresso in the list of included apps in the right hand column
4. Tap ‘None’ under ‘ALERT STYLE’ and turn off all of the other options in this menu
5. This will place The Economist Espresso under ‘DO NOT INCLUDE’. You will no longer receive push notifications and issues will not be downloaded automatically.

How do I stop receiving push notifications and auto-downloaded issues on Android?


1. Go to ‘Settings’ on your device
2. Tap ‘Applications’ in the left hand column
3. Tap Espresso in the list of apps
4. Tap the tick box next to ‘Show notifications’ to disable notifications

How do I access back issues of The Economist Espresso?


The Economist Espresso will allow you to access the five most recently published issues. However, only one issue can be stored on your device at a time. To access a back issue, please:

1. Open The Economist Espresso app
2. Tap the menu icon at the top right of the screen
3. Tap the date of the issue you wish to read

How do I leave feedback about The Economist Espresso?


To leave feedback in-app, please:

1. Open The Economist Espresso app
2. Tap the menu icon at the top right of the screen
3. Tap Feedback / Contact us and then select your preferred method to leave feedback for your region
