Australian physiotherapist Vasco Rodrigues found dead in Bali resort pool

Jakarta: An Australian man has been found dead in a resort swimming pool in Ubud, Bali.

Vasco Rodrigues, 27, from Sydney was on holiday with his girlfriend at the time.

Australian man found dead in Bali pool

Vasco Rodrigues was found dead in a resort swimming pool by his girlfriend Miroslava Kubeckova, while they were on holiday in Ubud, Bali.

His girlfriend, Miroslava Kubeckova, 35, told Indonesian police that Mr Rodrigues went for a swim after they had breakfast, when she retired to their room.

About 90 minutes later she returned to the pool area to find Mr Rodrigues at the bottom of the pool.

Mr Rodrigues was pronounced dead at a local health care clinic.

Police do not suspect any foul play.

Mr Rodrigues, who studied at the University of NSW and the University of Sydney, worked as a physiotherapist in Sydney.

A Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade spokesman confirmed the department was providing consular assistance "to the family of an Australian man who died in Bali".

"Owing to privacy obligations we are unable to provide any further comment," he said.
