The beauty told Ryan Seacrest on E! that her on-screen husband Milo Ventimiglia was the special man to deliver the exciting news of her nomination.
'I was home, I was awake, and I was getting ready to make coffee and my phone lit up with a text from Milo, my costar, saying, "Congratulations!"
'I said, "Did the show get nominated?" Then he didn't answer me back, so I started frantically looking online and saw the news there.'

Mandy isn't the only cast member of NBC's hit series to earn herself a nomination and was joined by on-screen daughter Chrissy Metz.
Metz is nominated in the Best Supporting Performance by an Actress in a Series, Miniseries, or Television Film.
She was also joined by her on-screen adopted son Sterling K. Brown (who scored a Best Supporting Actor nod for his work in The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story)
Moore told Seacrest the series returns with high drama.
'We've been off for five weeks and I know we left everyone with a bit of a cliffhanger,' she explained on the carpet, adding: 'But the thing about this show is there are always crazy roller coasters of emotion and this [new] episode is no exception.'

Musical La La Land, indie grief drama Manchester by the Sea, and black coming-of-age film Moonlight are leading the awards buzz in a season that has been dominated by escapist fantasy and gritty drama in equal measure.
La La Land looks set to sweep the board as it picked up a staggering seven Golden Globe nominations.
Last year was marked by soul-searching in Hollywood over movie representations - or lack of them - of people of color and their stories.
Purple reign: Mandy isn't the only cast member of NBC's hit series to earn herself a nomination and was joined at the awards by on-screen daughter Chrissy Metz
Up for a gong: Metz is nominated in the Best Supporting Performance by an Actress in a Series, Miniseries, or Television Film
Dapper: Mandy was also joined by her on-screen adopted son Sterling K. Brown - who attended with wife Ryan Michelle Bathe
That has all changed with contenders Moonlight, Hidden Figures, Fences, and Loving.
In television, The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story leads the way with five nominations.
AMC crime drama The Night Manager will be close behind, with four nominations, while Black-ish, The Crown, The Night Of, This is Us and Westworld have three each.
The nominees are split by genre within the TV and film categories and the outcome is seen as a predictor of how the Academy Awards might go in February.
The Golden Globes ranks as the third most-watched annual awards show, behind only the Oscars and the Grammys.
The winners are chosen by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association and are known for springing surprises, its members have no say in choosing the Oscars.
