Now Dave Billsborrow, 31, faces the prospect of a newly single Sam Frost, 27, after she split from the man she chose over him, Sasha Mielczarek, 31, but he feels torn in his loyalties.

Dave's friends have told Woman's Day that he still holds a torch for Sam but 'he is friends with them both, so it's a bit awkward.'

Despite grabbing Sam's first kiss on the first season of The Bachelorette, Dave was sent packing before the home visits in 2015, when she ultimately chose Sasha. 

He told APN at the time that 'I didn't win Sam's heart but it has been hard for me to move on.' 

Since that time the Sydney plumber has remained mates with both, but that placed him in an awkward position during and after the break up, even though his heart went out to the blonde beauty.

Dave has also found a love of his own, in the arms of another blonde beauty, Courtnee Spessot, who he started dating in February last year before the pair moved in together in November.

At the same time his friendship with Sam has grown - she thanked him for his 'being such an incredible friend to me' on Instagram last September in a birthday message, he'd called her his 'best friend' on the platform the night before.

Then in October he declared it 'the luckiest day of his life' when he uploaded a shot of himself sat between the two 'smoking hotties.'

Though he believed they were trying to make things work, one friend told Woman's Day of Dave's concern over their 'huge blazing rows'. 

Dave told the magazine that he had seen both Sam and Sasha since they broke up. 

'They seem to both be doing ok and are still coming to terms with everything,' he said, admitting that 'they were trying to make things work for some time.'

On December 27 Sasha confirmed the celebrity couple's break up via social media. 

Last week her 2DayFM with Rove McManus breakfast show was axed, with the pair shifted to a lower rating evenings slot. 

Dave was contacted for comment.
