It's a British classic that's been a firm favourite with children and adults alike since the 1930s.
But have you ever stopped to wonder what the filling is between Kit Kat's iconic chocolate-covered wafers?
Chocolate fans have been left shocked after learning what goes into the tasty filling after a documentary went behind the scenes in a Nestlé factory.
A documentary has revealed that what really goes in between the iconic Kit Kat wafers, and fans were shocked to learn the tasty filling is in fact made from other broken Kit Kats
According to BBC Two's Inside the Factory, the crispy wafers are stuffed with crushed-up Kit Kats - in other words, offcuts.
Gregg Wallace went behind the scenes at Nestlé's factory in York to learn the tricks of the trade, and fans were left shocked.
When the presenter asked a factory worker what becomes of all the broken Kit Kats, she replied: 'They go into re-work, where they're used for the fillings for the wafer.'
Taking to Twitter during a recent re-run of the 2015 documentary, one fan commented: 'Wait, the filling is ground up Kit Kat?'
Todd Roy added: 'The inside a Kit-Kat bar is crushed up Kit-Kat bars which makes you wonder how the first Kit-Kat bar was ever made.'
Gregg also learned how a unique, custom-made topping is produced especially for Kit Kats, as its manufacturer believes that using a regular milk chocolate 'wouldn't work.'
After the wafers are cut to size and then dropped into moulds full of melted chocolate, the final layer of chocolate is then drizzled on top.
The big reveal: Gregg Wallace went behind the scenes at Kit Kat's York-based factory to learn the tricks of the trade, and fans were left shocked after learning how they are made
When the presenter asked a factory worker what becomes of all the broken Kit Kats, she replied: 'They go into re-work, where they're used for the fillings for the wafer'
'That's a beautiful thing,' says Gregg. 'That's like a chocolate tide crashing into a beach.'
Touted by Nestlé as 'the UK's number one biscuit, Kit Kat was launched in the 1930s in a two- and four-finger format.
The snack now comes in milk, mint, orange, dark, cookies & cream and toffee treat varieties, with its manufacturer boasting they they sell enough two-finger Kit Kats each year to go around the world more than one and a half times.
