Fifth Harmony re-signs deal with Epic Records as a quartet after Camila Cabello's exit to pursue solo career
Fifth Harmony's future is looking bright, even though they should really be known as Fourth Harmony now.
The international superstars - now a quartet after a split with Camila Cabello in December - have been re-signed to Epic Records in a situation described as 'a win-win' for both the group and the record company.
According to Billboard, the label has decided to continue the girl band as a four-piece, exercising its option for a third full-length album.
Now a quarter: Fifth Harmony shared their first group photo as a foursome on Thursday with the caption 'Twenty Seventeen'
As a quintet launched on Fox's The X Factor in 2012, the singing sensations sold seven million US digital downloads, nearly half a million albums, and garnered 1.6 billion on-demand streams.
Their success will act as leverage in the ongoing negotiations of the new contract with the record label.
According to a source for the music magazine, Ally Brooke, 23, Normani Kordei, 20, Dinah Jane, 19, and Lauren Jauregui, 20, have already regained ownership of their trademark.
Last performance: The pre-recorded show for Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve was the last time the girls would be seen performing together
Representatives for Fifth Harmony confirmed the deal with Epic Records, and a source in the camp remarked that 'staying put is a win-win.'
The report comes as the internet is rife with speculation over alleged leaked audio, which, reported by The Daily Mirror, saw Lauren talking to Ally about their working conditions.
'They are making decisions on a regular basis to f*** us over, to make us literal slaves, like literally slaves Ally,' the voice said.
'We're doing f***ing labor every day and we see nothing.'
Doing well: Ex-member Camila (pictured last month) is expected to drop her first single in April or May
Meanwhile, Camila - whose leave was announced via 5H's Twitter on December 19 - is expected to drop her first single in April or May and will remain with the same record label as well.
Previously, the 19-year-old was featured on Shawn Mendes's I Know What You Did Last Summer and offered her vocals for Bad Things with Machine Gun Kelly.
The group - who is ironically nominated for the favorite group trophy at the fan-voted People's Choice Awards - could last be seen performing together in a pre-recorded show for Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve.
