Longleat heir's horror at estate's Nazi legacy: Marquess' son in race row wants to rid ancestral home of collection including Himmler's glasses and copy of Mein Kampf
- Lord Bath's heir, Ceawlin, banned mother from his wedding over race feud
- Claims she said his half-Nigerian wife would damage the family's bloodline
- Caewlin now wants to get rid of the family's Nazi memorabilia at Longleat
- Among the collection are 30 of Hitler's paintings and Himmler's glasses
The racism feud tearing apart the eccentric Marquess of Bath’s family has taken an even more unpleasant turn.
First, Lord Bath’s heir, Ceawlin, banned his mother from his wedding and put ‘security on standby’ in case she turned up after she allegedly suggested that marrying his half-Nigerian wife would damage the family’s bloodline.
Now Ceawlin says he is desperate to get rid of the collection of Nazi memorabilia that is kept at his family’s ancestral seat, Longleat, in Wiltshire.

Lord Bath caused outrage when he briefly put the hoard — which was amassed by his father, a Fascist and fan of Adolf Hitler — on display.
‘I will be very relieved when that is no longer here,’ Ceawlin says. ‘The question is what to do with it.’
The sinister collection, which includes 30 of Hitler’s paintings, a first edition of Mein Kampf and a pair of SS leader Heinrich Himmler’s spectacles, is locked away in the clock tower.
‘We will start putting some feelers out in the near future to Holocaust museums or museums focusing on World War II to see if anyone is interested in taking this and putting it to educational use,’ Ceawlin adds. ‘I find it discomforting to have it here. We would donate it to someone — we wouldn’t profit from it, ever.’
Included in the collection of memorabilia are 30 original works by Hitler, who went to art school before moving into politics but failed to make a career from it
Also in the collection is an early copy of Mein Kampf, the book he wrote while in prison before ceasing power
Ceawlin Thynn, 41, alleged at the weekend that when he told his mother, Anna, that he planned to marry oil tycoon’s daughter Emma McQuiston, 29, the Marchioness replied: ‘Are you sure about what you’re doing to 400 years of bloodline?’
He said that after she later repeated her comment, he stopped his mother seeing his son, John, in case the boy was ‘contaminated’ by her views.
Emma, who wed Ceawlin in 2013, has previously spoken about racism in aristocratic circles. ‘There has been some snobbishness,’ she said. ‘There’s class, and then there’s the racial thing.’
Lord Bath claimed in 2006 that he was unable to dispose of the hoard. He said: ‘I’m certainly no admirer of Hitler or his art, but I can’t get rid of them as they belong to the trustees.’
