Sitting in a boat or inside an apartment: at this Hamilton address, the feelings could almost be the same.

“In the 35 years I haven’t walked into an apartment before I’ve never felt that close to the river,” said selling agent Paul Liddy, of Ray White East Brisbane, said. “You can’t be built out, it’s quite spectacular.”

Mr Liddy was excited to market what he called a unique apartment. “I don’t think there’s anything like it,” he said.

The Infinity Apartments were some of Brisbane’s most exclusive riverside apartments, just 10 metres from the water’s edge in the Hamilton wharf precinct. Prices in the complex range from $1.5 million to $2 million.

148/37 Harbour Drive hasn’t been up for sale since it was built more than 10 years ago. Of the 63 apartments in the building, only three others share the same river and city views.

PriceFinder data showed the last time one sold was in 2008, for $2.19 million.

The vendors of unit 148 wanted to sell the property to move into a larger apartment in the same complex. “They’ve got grandchildren,” Mr Liddy said. “Space is more important to them.”

Domain Group chief economist Andrew Wilson said rare apartments tended to attract a lot of attention.

“Those apartments do compete with higher end prestige Gold Coast apartments,” he said. “It’s ticking all the boxes, isn’t it. It’s just a matter of finding a buyer.”

“You’re likely to find buyers are more interested in what it offers than its financial potential.”

The Brisbane prestige market was trending up at the end of last year; Dr Wilson expected more market growth this year.

148/37 Harbour Drive will be auctioned on February 2.
