Culture Kings warehouse fire creating thick plumes of smoke in Acacia Ridge

Firefighters are continuing to battle an out-of-control blaze at a commercial building in Brisbane, with nearby residents warned to batten down the hatches with thick smoke in the air.

Fire crews were called to the Culture Kings clothing warehouse on Beenleigh Road in Acacia Ridge at 3.10pm, and more than two-and-a-half hours later 12 crews remained on scene.

Toxic smoke fears after fire

The Culture Kings textiles warehouse is engulfed in flames late on Sunday, sending a thick plume of smoke over Brisbane's south side. Nine News

The fire wasn't under control by 5.45pm but fire crews hadn't received any information to suggest anyone was in the building at the time the fire broke out.

A Queensland Fire Service spokesman said the structure had collapsed and firefighters were using ladders to fight the blaze from above.

The fire wasn't threatening any surrounding buildings and a specialist QFES unit was on scene to reduce the environmental impact.

A QFES spokeswoman said there was "a fair bit of smoke" in the area and advised residents to close windows, doors and drive to the conditions on the roads.
