As the triggering of Article 50 fast approaches, it is incredibly important that we figure out what 'Brexit' actually means, and how this will affect us. Young people especially will live with the outcome of Brexit by far the longest, and it is for that reason that I believe that we deserve a voice in the forthcoming negotiations.
Today we've had confirmation that a monitoring station in Brixton Road has reported that the annual legal safe levels of nitrogen dioxide were exceeded within the first five days of the year. Sadly this is no surprise to us at City Hall, and it is why our mayor, Sadiq Khan, has had to take urgent and hard-hitting measures to help halt the rise of London's filthy air pollution.
It might seem trivial, but the sketch has done a good job. What else has done the job of raising awareness and if anything discouraging vulnerable people from swapping their semi-detached in Birmingham for sweeping the floors in Syria?
For the past six months, we've been living through a phony Brexit. Just as during the first months of the Second World War, it's tempting to wonder what all the fuss was about. The economy's been doing much better than the experts had forecast (huh, what do they know?), so maybe it won't be so bad after all.
To save lives, but also to put London at the forefront of a clean vehicle revolution and spare its air pollution shame, the Mayor of London needs to introduce a ban on the dirtiest vehicles being used in the capital.
A month-long 'diet' I tried in November has been slated as 'the worst fad diet' and 'one to avoid'. As a lifestyle editor who is supposed to report responsibly about food and diets, as well as champion body positivity and self-love, to be tarred with the 'fad diet' brush is far from ideal.
Progressives should be unashamedly contesting right wing ideas, even if those ideas are currently popular among voters. The answer to our present predicament cannot be to hide behind the elitist politics of government by experts, or to embrace the politics of racism that underpins all anti-immigration discourse.
Is Mr Trump likely to act on his threats and use his Twitter feed as a blueprint for policy? It is very doubtful that this is anything other than posturing. However, Mr Trump has clearly shown us one thing: he has a very different understanding of trade relations that any other American President in living memory.
I wanted to share what I feel has really helped me turn a corner and hopefully, if you suffer with depression and anxiety too, you may find some of these ideas helpful. Remember, just like anything else, you have to put them into practice to see results.
It is empowering to empower another person. Aside from (maybe) an orgasm, there is no feeling more satisfying. When women support each other, incredible things happen. And, as women, we are fighting a pretty tough battle; against history, against sexism, against racism, against homophobia, against the patriarchy and against ourselves. We NEED the support!
Bowie made me think differently. He gave me permission to read literature and philosophy and like abstract art. Then later, inspiration to leave my small Northern town and try my luck in the big wide world. Aged thirteen I never anticipated that my schoolgirl hero would have such a huge influence on how I learnt to deal with death and mortality, through a cancer diagnosis and the loss of my father.
Three years ago today my waters broke while I was 25 weeks pregnant with my second child. It was unequivocally the most terrifying moment of my life as everything I had planned for the future was abruptly tipped upon its head...
Over the last week the ever more shrill criticism of international aid found a new target - the practise of giving money directly to some of the poorest and most vulnerable people, otherwise known as cash transfers. The allegation made was that this amounted to setting up UK-funded cashpoints for the poor. However the reality is somewhat different... Giving cash directly to women like Julum and Elphine is not wasteful but it is empowering and effective. We need to be vigilant to always ensure aid money is not being misspent.
At last, justice for victims of stalking. I am delighted that the Government is taking decisive action to strengthen protections for those targeted by this horrible, violating crime. The decision to double the maximum sentence from five to ten years doesn't just recognise the seriousness of this offence, most important of all, it gives the courts the tools they need to keep victims safe.
I like to think he's watching when I begin that beautiful song in Lazarus onstage. My mind always goes back to that magical moment in the rehearsal room - that was my moment with the Star Man... David Bowie.
Umunna is trying to find a middle way between the close-all-the-borders rhetoric of some Leave campaigners, and the protect-freedom-of-movement-at-all cost cries of hard-core Remainers. While this may be an intellectual responsible course of action for Labour, it could hold short-term pain at the ballot box.
The industry is lacking in authenticity. Now, people want to be famous for the sake of being famous even though they don't necessarily have the talent in a particular area, so the world of 'celebrityism' has been filled up with Big Brother winners and X Factor dropouts.
I am painfully aware, as a Labour voter, of the pressure the party is under to be something new, to reincarnate under a messianic leader and to be a credible opposition to a government that has had very little contest in the time it has taken to sort out who's in charge at Labour HQ. But is this where the Labour Party is going?
Now, I have a thick skin. Sometimes I think it's a little bit too thick. I know she's not going to harm me, she's just a pitiful Twitter troll with nothing better to do. Her words don't offend me, if anything I'm finding it all laughable the very fact that someone would go out of their way to send me these tweets was as ridiculous as it was amusing.
Having recently displayed a sign in their flagship store that read: "I'm a psychotic mess but at least my eyebrows look good" they've been called out by just about everyone. Not just by the media, but by members of the public and mental health charities too. Ouch.
If you want to set yourself a resolution for 2017, make a resolution that you can do over time, that allows for mistakes and gradual progress rather than instantaneous results.
It is good content that will be lapped up by mainstream audiences. But for the young filmmaker looking to make waves in the industry, it looks as though there is little space to cut through. After all, why should a successful commissioner take a risk on an unknown artist?
