Music, theater, and stand-up comedy are the most popular kinds of live events, but gallery openings are another form of live entertainment that offer amusement, wonder, and even awe. In August 2016, the Gateway Art Center NYC in Manhattan, New York, is presenting a show titled the "United Nations of Art" that showcases new work from global artists hailing from Ireland, America, Finland, Japan, the United Kingdom, and Morocco. The show is being held in conjunction with ARTRAINASSOCIATION--an international organization of artists that exhibit worldwide. This show marks the second consecutive year that they are displaying their creations at the Gateway Art Center NYC --something that they hope will become an annual fixture. 

Among the artists showing this year are KiAWinqvist and Jere Pohjonen of Finland, Holly Pagel Adams and Vincent Priblo of the USA, Sarah El Rashidi of the UK/Egypt, Matthew Thompson of Ireland and Fumihisa Endo and YUKAKO of Japan. Moreover, the "United Nations of Art" is exhibiting alongside artists from the GAC gallery so, in total, the Gateway Art Center is actively promoting artists from 20 countries.

The art presented in the show is a wonderful blend of paintings, photography, digital art and mixed media. Matthew Thompson's abstract pastel acrylics are spellbinding and KiAWinqvist's photo series about her mother is both uplifting and deeply moving. Other works include powerful photos taken at Syrian refugee camps, canvases containing 3D pieces and holographic elements and an array of abstract paintings in vibrant hues. Given the wide array of styles, anyone who enjoys modern art will likely find something to admire within the showroom.
