Gallery openings are often exciting, and sometimes awe-inspiring, live-events that hold particular interest to art aficionados. Internationally acclaimed artist Marian Osher is well known for her paintings that are largely inspired by natural themes. Marian has had twenty-two solo shows and has artwork in the permanent collection of America's Library of Congress and the Museum of Modern Art in Argentina. In September of 2016, Marian -- who flew on 9/11 --is debuting a solo show at the George Washington University campus in Ashburn, Virginia titled Fearless Flying in 2016!

Fearless Flying in 2016! coincides with the fifteenth anniversary of 9/11, which was the inspiration for much of the art in this show. "On 9/11 my flight from Amsterdam to the US was detoured to Halifax, Canada," Marian stated. "I was afraid to fly for three years." Marian's fascination with the abstract textures of clouds and earth inspired her to create colorful artwork; paintings and wall hangings crafted using mixed-media. "Working on the art helped me to overcome my fear of flying," she explained via her blog. At the gallery reception, Marian will give a talk where she will share her personal experiences about overcoming her fear of flying.
