Sydney will get its first burst of summer heat in 2017 starting from the weekend, as dreary conditions make way for the sun.
After several relatively dreary days in Sydney, the mercury will start to climb again Saturday, with a top of 27 degrees tipped for the city and 30 degrees in the west.

The real warmth, though, will start to kick from Sunday with the Bureau of Meteorology predicting 30 degrees in mostly sunny conditions for Sydney and 36 out in Penrith.
"It's really two prongs of heat," Graeme Brittain, a meteorologist with Weatherzone, said. "Monday warms up, then there's some respite on Tuesday and Wednesday will be the hottest day."

While forecasts are subjected to change, at present the city can expect 31 degrees on Monday, 29 by Tuesday and a hot 37 degrees for Wednesday. Places such as Penrith ride from tops of 39, easing back to 34 and a scorching 41 for those three days, respectively.
The good news is that next week's heat "looks like being less humid, with less moisture" than the heatwave between Christmas and New Year's Eve, Mr Brittain said.
The change when it arrives after Wednesday's temperature spike will "flush out the heat", sending maximums down by about 10 degrees, he said.
So far, there is little rain on the horizon for Sydney with only a few showers expected on Friday. They are expected to be less persistent and heavy than those that dampened cricket at the SCG on Thursday.
