2016, aside from being the year when your favourite celebrity died, has been a seminal year for those who identify as "other" when it comes to the question of gender. Thanks to high profile stars and activists, from Laverne Cox and Janet Mock to Ruby Rose and Miley Cyrus, we now have the chance for young people to be aware that gender - the great societal binary - isn't so binary at all. In fact, like most things in life, gender operates as a spectrum and everybody's identity is valid without denying anybody else's.

I know it's only symbolic in this day and age, but it comes from a time and a place where it wasn't so, and women were given - dowry and all - to the highest bidder. Married, divorced, widowed, single, in a relationship, we don't need to be 'given away' to know that we're worth millions to ourselves, and whoever is lucky enough to be in our lives.

I never wanted to join this discussion. Sometimes I feel like our tech/media bubble is the only bubble that's currently caring about such things as filter bubbles. And others just won't see it and won't care (more on that later). However, as product people, my co-founder Alexander and I were interested in current solutions people suggested could solve this problem.

New gender pay gap reporting requirements will at least require large employers to take the first step and publish their gender pay gap. But until we tackle each of the causes the pay gap will be with us for generations to come. Millennial women will be old hands at it by then it seem.

During the trial, 72% of journeys were said to be easier as a result of the badge, in 86% of journeys participants reported feeling more confident when asking for a seat and 98% said they would recommend the badge and card to somebody who requires or would benefit from it.

The moment I realised that I had a genuine, real life addiction is when I realised it was making me feel bad about myself. There's nothing like looking at people's #cleaneating , fitness posts, travel pictures and engagement pictures to make your whole life feel pretty inadequate.

We may love to scroll through our social media feeds and watch funny videos of cats jumping on trampolines, but we also work extremely hard, and are as political, vocal and determined as ever. So let's end this catastrophic media storm on Millennials. 2017 is the year of Millennial success. And we will succeed in getting our true voices heard.

By having more disabled people on our TV screens, only then will I no longer get people asking stupid questions such as 'Can you have sex?' 'Have you ever tried to talk just to see what would happen?' and 'Are you as clever as that Stephen Hawking bloke?'

Rape culture is allowed to persist because as a society we still value the political, economic and cultural contributions from men higher than those from their female counterparts. It persists because gender roles are still reinforced - boys will be boys, after all.

Sometimes she will play very exaggerated games, role play, loud play, which focus on different aspects of her anatomy and result in funny songs and rhymes with little worry for how others see her. At other times, she will become so engrossed in her quieter role play but very aware we are around her, and she will tell us not to watch or listen to her.

Carrie Fisher was greater than a trillion Star Wars, she was a comic genius. Like a composer hears notes in his/her head when composing, she would imagine words and phrases, craft them to perfection and reel out daisy chains of comic jewels. If the emails she's written me were ever published I know she'd win a Booker Prize. We'd often lie in bed together (not sexual) she'd call me 'mommy' and read out scrawls from her notebooks and I'd just lie there thinking, 'how lucky am I to have this woman as a friend?' To the end of my life I'll never get over that.

Rather than driving Turkey into the arms of extremists, as the gunman presumably wanted, the result of this vile crime should be to bring Turks together - a reminder that the country's great and enduring strength lies in its secular traditions, and I hope future.

As soon as you start picking at the details, the entire policy begins to unravel. It quickly became the billy-no-mates of housing policy. Councils hate the government riding roughshod over any idea of localism by forcing them to provide Starter Homes instead of other types of more affordable housing. The mortgage lenders don't like it, because they don't know the true value of the assets they're being asked to lend on.

This generational progress on gender pay differences will reflect a number of welcome trends including equalities legislation that millennial women's mothers and grandmothers fought for, maternity rights and welfare support, and rising higher educational participation which women in particular have benefited from. All this has meant more women breaking into high-paying occupations, and staying in them.

Brexit carries a triple risk for the UK's farmers and environment. They risk losing Common Agricultural Policy subsidies vital to their livelihoods; being exposed to increased competition and tariffs in new trade deals; and the erosion of the UK's world-leading environmental protections.

This ability to "have a go" at rents that were within reach of just about anyone, created success stories and inspiration to thousands of young people who felt that "breaking out" from their humble beginnings was totally tangible. When you take these chances away from a generation then you diminish the empowerment.

The saddest aspect of the whole affair is that Lucia will never be able to join in with me when I reminisce about this time in years to come. She will have no memory of the three months we spent together and how much fun we had.

My wife and I had only one reading at our wedding and it was from his short book. Our lives have been held together by many things, but John Berger's words are the literary resin that binds us. As we turn to face what 2017 holds in store for us - as the angels chatter distills and clarifies - the incredible legacy of Berger's writing is something magical to draw on. It can help see us through.

So if you've entered 2017 piled with worry about whether you're doing the right thing, right now, in your life. Please... don't. Live for the moment, focus on what makes you happy, and the rest will come along soon enough. And if for whatever reason none of us wake up tomorrow, at least we can say we enjoyed the ride.

An experience that obligates me to see the world through the eyes of my peers, no matter how much I disagree with them. That is what education does, it calls us all to see different points of view. The conservative and the liberal, the powerful and the powerless. We are all shaken out of our complacency, we are all forced beyond our limited vision - no one is exempt.
