A man has been charged with a match fixing offence which allegedly occurred at a tennis tournament in Traralgon in Victoria's east.

The 18-year-old from Queensland has been charged with engaging in conduct that corrupts a betting outcome in relation to offences allegedly committed on October 16.

Victoria Police sporting integrity intelligence unit detectives charged the man on summons after an investigation which also involved Latrobe detectives and bookmakers.

The man will appear at the Latrobe Valley Magistrates Court on March 2.

Assistant Commissioner Neil Paterson said the integrity of sport remains a critical focus for the intelligence unit through the targeting of match fixers.

"Match fixing is one of the fastest growing organised crime types across the world at the present time, he said.

A tennis tournament in Traralgon was also targeted in the only case of tennis match fixing previously uncovered in Australia.

More to come.
