A woman has been taken to hospital after the car she was sitting in was hit by a tram on Collins Street in Melbourne on Thursday afternoon.
A Yarra Trams spokesman said it appeared the driver of a black sedan was attempting to do a U-turn in front of the tram, near the corner of King Street.

The car was hit by the route 12 tram, heading east to Victoria Gardens, about 2.35pm.
Police at the scene said there were two people inside the vehicle, a female passenger who has been taken to hospital with hip pain, and the male driver who was shaken, but unharmed.

The Yarra Trams spokesman said no one on the tram was injured.
"It's a timely reminder of the need for motorists to check for trams before turning right," he said.
