What Ramsey Vong knew of resuscitation techniques he learned watching videos on YouTube and Facebook. It may have been enough to save a life.
The 33-year-old chef put his knowledge into practice shortly after 10am on Monday when a boy aged two was pulled unconscious from a fish pond in the yard next door to Mr Vong's home in Fairfield West.
Developers are planning to relocate the Kogarah golf course to make way for a sprawling 100-hectare development featuring 5,000 homes and a new sports stadium.

Ramsey Vong tells how he performed CPR on a toddler who fell into a fish pond in Sydney's west.
"I heard the screams outside, help! help! help!" Mr Vong said. As the boy's father, mother and grandmother watched on, he took it in turns with an uncle to perform CPR on the child until ambulances arrived.
"I could see the water - a lot - come out of his mouth and nose," he said. At one point, the boy's eyes opened. A convoy of three ambulances under police escort took him to the Children's Hospital at Westmead, where he remained in critical condition on Monday afternoon.

The incident follows a recent spate of drownings in NSW, several involving children. Fifteen people have drowned in the state over the Christmas holiday period so far.
On Sunday morning, a two-year-old girl died after she was found unconscious in a backyard pool in Macquarie Fields in Sydney's west.

Police and paramedics were called to the house on Atchison Road about 6.10pm after the girl fell into the pool during a family gathering.
Acting Superintendent Mark Brett said there was a fence around the pool and it was not clear how the child entered the area.
"I would just reiterate my warning and my plea that parents are vigilant with their young children, especially where pools are, or water is around. Just know where they are at all times, please," Mr Brett said.
Other drowning victims included twins Robbi and Charli Manago, aged 23 months, who were pulled from the pool of their Kellyville Ridge home on December 20.
Charli died in hospital on December 26. Robbi died three days later.
