MAGRUDERGRIND plays a punishing hybrid of grindcore, powerviolence and hardcore punk. Formed in 2002 in DC and currentlybased in Brooklyn, MAGRUDERGRIND combines visceral lyrics with a relentless sonic aesthetic. Owing much to the close-knit global DIY community, the band has toured Europe, Asia, and North & South America.
Jura is a radical social space. We put on gigs, films and discussions in order to build a counter-culture outside of (and in opposition to) the capitalist scene. We welcome like-minded groups to put on events in our space. Below is a selection of images from gigs and other Jura events over the last couple of years. Jura has a safer spaces policy (YAY!) and we ask that everyone please make themselves aware either by reading below or checking our their website http://www.jura.org.au/saferspaces
Jura is pleased to be hosting a day of stalls, music, food, drinks, zines, books, films and more! Come to the anarchist fair day to learn about how local community groups are organising for a better world, and how you can get involved!
Also, it's that time of year when lots of people buy presents for family and friends. If you follow this tradition (whether joyfully or begrudgingly), why not buy a radical book, DVD, poster or t-shirt from Jura? Get great gifts and support your local anarchist space at the same time!
Jura Books is on the land of the Wangal people of the Eora Nation. The Jura Collective acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the Land and pays our respect to Elders past and present. We support the ongoing struggle of Aboriginal people for land rights, self-determination, and justice.
A note on accessibility: The lower level of Jura (the bookshop area) is accessible for people using wheelchairs or with other mobility impairments. However the library and toilets are up steep flights of stairs. We can move most meetings and events downstairs upon request.
