STUMPS: Australia 3/365 (Renshaw 167no, Handscomb 40no)
SUMMARY: Superb batting from Australia today after Steve Smith won the toss, led from the outset by Dave Warner, who played one of the great Test innings, knocking up a remarkable century before lunch on day one, just the fifth man in Test history to do so.
The bowling wasn't shocking, either, it was just that Warner's superb eye and strokeplay took full toll on anything remotely hittable. An amazing ton came up in just 78 balls with 17 fours.
And even his dismissal shortly after lunch hardly stemmed the run flow. Pakistan had some success after the break, thanks to Wahab, who picked up both Warner and Usman Khawaja, but first Steve Smith, then Peter Handscomb kept the scoreboard ticking over, Matt Renshaw playing a superb hand as the sheet anchor, then, after reaching his maiden Test ton, opening right up, his third 50 coming from about as many balls after he'd taken 200 to get to three figures.
He and Peter Handscomb were doing it on the bit by the end, adding an unbeaten 121 from only 169 deliveries, Australia 3/365 by the close, going at 4.14 per over.
Pakistan is staring down the barrel of a total of 600 here, with the pitch offering very little and even the second new ball offering precious little encouragement. Renshaw is 167 and short odds to turn that into 200 given how comfortable he's looked. So Australia ready to cash in on a terrific start on day two, Pakistan with a lot of thinking to do.
That's all from Rohan Connolly here at Blog Central. We look forward to your company again tomorrow from 10am for a 10.30am start to play.
And that's it!
Pakistan doesn't bowl the full 90 overs, tardy stuff from them, but nice handshakes with the unbeaten Matt Renshaw, who gets a huge ovation from the whole SCG, batted all day for an unbeaten 167, and every chance of a 200 tomorrow. Stand by for our summary.
Renshaw opens up
He's really upped the ante since reaching three figures, lofts Yasir now over long-off and nearly goes all the way for six! He's up to 166.

Great stuff Handscomb
These two are both brilliant off their pads, Handscomb now flicking Imran through mid-wicket, speeds to the rope for four. He's up to 37, Australia 3/352.

150 for Renshaw!
This knock is just getting better and better. Lovely flick off the pads past square leg for four takes him to 153 from 254 balls. His 100 came from 201 balls, but his next 50 has come from only 53 deliveries. Paced himself beautifully! 100 partnership up for this pair, too, great work!
Brilliant drive
Good over with the new ball from Amir. But the last ball just slightly outside off, and Handscomb launches into a classic off drive, speeds away for four. He's in great touch. Renshaw on strike now, on 149, Imran to bowl again.
Back to topNew ball taken
It's due, and not surprisingly, taken straight away, Pakistan getting increasingly desperate for a breakthrough. Amir will take the new cherry.
Shafiq again
The part part-timer is on for another bowl, has three runs from the only over he's bowled to date. Desperate stuff from Misbah here, still 12 overs to be bowled today, too.
Wicket? No sir!
Renshaw trapped in front by Yasir, big appeal and it's given. But Renshaw goes straight for the review, suggests he thinks there was some bat, and there certainly was. Massive inside edge on to the pad. Mistake from umpire Illingworth, who has to reverse his decision, it's NOT OUT!
Handscomb handsome
With the bat, anyway. Lovely cover drive to Wahab now, superbly-timed square drive through point, then nearly gets another four with a delicate late cut. Great to watch!
Runs coming freely again
This pair looking better and better. Renshaw slices Wahab through point for four. Then Yasir gets the treatment again, Renshaw reverse sweeping him for four, then next ball lofting him over mid-off. Starting to take some risks now, and why not? Confidence is up. He's 136 and Australia is 3/310, this stand now worth 66.

Young pair adds 50
Again, no fuss runs being added here, as Australia closes in on 300, their 50-run stand has come in 80 balls, not bad at all in this arena.
Chance!
Handscomb should have been out there! Good ball from Yasir, the right-hander dances down the wicket and misses completely, but Sarfraz has the ball bounce in and out of his gloves, and what should have been a routine stumping goes begging! Renshaw then rubs salt into the wound with a cover drive for four. Who'd be a bowler in this situation?
Bang!
Normal transmission resumes! Too wide outside off from Imran and Renshaw takes full toll, crashing him through point for another boundary, his ninth. Takes his biggest risk now and gets away with it, goes a big heave over mid-wicket but instead gets a massive outside edge which flies down to third man and nearly goes for six! Oh well, deserves a bit of luck. Sure got it there!
Quiet time
Well, comparitively. Renshaw might be feeling some effects from that hit on the helmet, too, with doctor Brukner coming out with some painkillers. But he and now Handscomb continue to quietly add runs, their stand now worth nearly 30. Australia 3/272.
