A woman has been bitten by a wild snake at Australia Zoo.
The zoo visitor, in her 20s, accidentally stood on a wild green tree snake in the zoo's Wetlands area, according to the zoo.
"The snake was identified as a green tree snake, which are a common occurrence in the Wetlands, as it is the perfect environment for their favourite food, frogs," the zoo said in a Facebook post.
"While green tree snakes are not venomous, we followed first aid protocol and the guest was taken to the hospital.
"This is the only time a guest has been bitten by a snake at Australia Zoo in our 46-year history."
The woman was taken to Caloundra Hospital for treatment.
