"The Disease" is the 111th episode of the science fiction television series Star Trek: Voyager, the 17th episode of the fifth season.
Voyager stops to assist a xenophobic species known as the Varro. This species lives on a generational ship which has housed them for 400 years. While the crew works on the Varro ship, Voyager is infested with synthetic ship-eating parasites that had been released on the Varro ship by dissident Varro. Meanwhile, Harry Kim becomes intimate with Varro scientist Tal, and develops a physiological bond with her, one that is standard in the Varro. The physiological connection alters his behavior and sways him from his duties aboard Voyager.
It is later revealed that Tal is one of the separatists. There has been a rumour of a minority of Varro that want off the ship. The parasites that Tal helped create were made to separate the individual pods of the Varro ship without destroying the ship itself. Fractures along the hull created by the parasites begin to grow as the Varro ship begins to fall apart. Voyager's docking port is seized, trapping it with the Varro ship. If the explosions get to Voyager, it would be destroyed as well. However, Harry comes up with a plan to extend Voyager's integrity field around the unstable ship. This gives the Varro enough time to stabilize the parasites.
Spreading the Disease is the second studio album by the American thrash metal band Anthrax. It was released on October 30, 1985 through Megaforce Worldwide/Island Records. It was the band's first album to feature vocalist Joey Belladonna and bassist Frank Bello.
The band produced the album with Carl Canedy, Jon Zazula serving as executive producer. The album includes the single "Madhouse". A music video was produced for "Madhouse" as well, but didn't receive much airplay because it was banned by MTV, who believed the content to be degrading to the mentally insane.
This was the last Anthrax album to feature songwriting from ex-vocalist Neil Turbin, who is given songwriting credit on the songs "Armed and Dangerous" and "Gung-Ho". Songwriting credit was shared to the track "Medusa", the first and only songwriting contribution from former producer Jon Zazula. Originally he was credited as the sole writer of the song, but reissues credit it to the rest of the band as well.
30th Anniversary or 30th Anniversary Collection may refer to:
"30th Anniversary" is a 3-CD box set by Spanish duo Baccara, released by Sony-BMG Germany on 31 August 2007.
With a few minor omissions this fifty-track compilation comprises the entire recorded output of the original formation of the duo, Mayte Mateos and Maria Mendiola, made between the years 1977 and 1981 for the RCA-Victor label; their four studio albums Baccara (1977), Light My Fire (1978), Colours (1979), Bad Boys (1981), non-album tracks like "The Devil Sent You To Lorado", "Somewhere In Paradise", "Sleepy Time Toy", "Candido" as well as Spanish-, French- and German-language versions of some of their hits. 16 of the 50 tracks were previously unreleased on CD.
All songs written and composed by Rolf Soja/Frank Dostal, except where noted.
30 (thirty) is the natural number following 29 and preceding 31.
30 is the sum of the first four squares, which makes it a square pyramidal number.
It is a primorial and is the smallest Giuga number.
30 is the smallest sphenic number, and the smallest of the form 2 × 3 × r, where r is a prime greater than 3. 30 has an aliquot sum of 42; the second sphenic number and all sphenic numbers of this form have an aliquot sum 12 greater than themselves. The aliquot sequence of 30 is 16 members long, it comprises (30,42,54,66,78,90,144,259,45,33,15,9,4,3,1,0)
Thirty has but one number for which it is the aliquot sum: the square number 841.
Adding up some subsets of its divisors (e.g., 5, 10 and 15) gives 30, hence 30 is a semiperfect number.
30 is the largest number such that all coprimes smaller than itself, except for 1, are prime.
A polygon with thirty sides is called a triacontagon.
The icosahedron and the dodecahedron are Platonic solids with 30 edges. The icosidodecahedron is an Archimedean solid with 30 vertices, and the Tutte–Coxeter graph is a symmetric graph with 30 vertices.
A disease is a particular abnormal condition, a disorder of a structure or function, that affects part or all of an organism. The causal study of disease is called pathology. Disease is often construed as a medical condition associated with specific symptoms and signs. It may be caused by factors originally from an external source, such as infectious disease, or it may be caused by internal dysfunctions, such as autoimmune diseases. In humans, "disease" is often used more broadly to refer to any condition that causes pain, dysfunction, distress, social problems, or death to the person afflicted, or similar problems for those in contact with the person. In this broader sense, it sometimes includes injuries, disabilities, disorders, syndromes, infections, isolated symptoms, deviant behaviors, and atypical variations of structure and function, while in other contexts and for other purposes these may be considered distinguishable categories. Diseases usually affect people not only physically, but also emotionally, as contracting and living with a disease can alter one's perspective on life, and one's personality.
"Disease" was released on September 30, 2002 as the first single from Matchbox Twenty's third album, More Than You Think You Are. It was co-written by Matchbox Twenty lead singer Rob Thomas and The Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger. The song peaked at #29 on the Billboard Hot 100. "Disease" was one of two songs written and presented to Mick Jagger, by Rob Thomas in which Jagger actually gives back the song, saying "it would sound better coming from you".
The video, directed by Phil Harder, starts with a man turning on his colorful boombox, then roller skating over a wide section of New York City, amid images of the band illuminated on moving billboards. During the second chorus, we see the band performing in a large outdoor roller-rink, complete with a disco ball. They are surrounded by a crowd dancing along, and to begin the 3rd chorus, Rob slides off the stage on all fours onto the dance floor past the crowd. At the end of the song, the roller skater shuts off his beat box and then proceeds up some stairs, presumably to his home.
