Sharkbait Club

Sharkbait club, is for any swimmer that has completed 10 or more swims. Sharkbait members have the opportunity of early entry to the swim.

If you are receiving your sharkbait medal this year medallion awards are at approximately 3:30pm at the presentation dais. If you have any queries regarding your eligibility, please email shark_bait@lornesurfclub.com.au.

How early do I need to be there?

Registration on the day of the event is on the Lorne foreshore and opens at 9am until 12 noon.
Allow plenty of time to get to Lorne, if travelling from Melbourne it is best to allow 3 hours as traffic can be heavy in the busy summer period

Changing and gear

There is a gear tent that is available to swimmers to place their belongings whilst they swim the event. There is also a gear truck that travels between the pier and the surf club. Items must be in your registration bag. Please do not put valuables in your bag as we accept no liability for loss.

Marshalling

You need to be at the pier half an hour prior to your race time. It is approximately a 1.5km walk from the foreshore to the pier.

The Swim

If this is your first time swimming in the event be aware of the following:
1. It is very busy at the beginning of each wave and you can get kicked. Sometimes it may be better to wait 10 seconds after the gun to get some clear water.
2. Take your time during the race to get your bearings
3. If distressed, put your hand up, someone will come to you

The Finish

Completely cross the timing mats and proceed up the beach. There will be water available beside the clubhouse. Gear can be collected and there are changing facilities behind the clubhouse.

The course

On the day

The GMHBA Lorne Pier to Pub and Mountain to Surf is adopting a plastic minimisation policy. We will be phasing in our plastic minimisation efforts over the next two years.

We strongly encourage competitors and spectators to bring their own water bottles. We provide a drinks fountain should you need to fill up. The fountain is located on the north side of the surf club.

We would also encourage you to bring your own bag, rather than using a bag at registration and for use in the clothing tent, though we would suggest leave the Hermes bag at home.

Re-run date

In the event of cancellation the P2P will be re-run on Date to be confirmed. Swimmers unable to attend will not be eligible for a refund.

Withdrawals and refunds

We accept withdrawals from the swim up to the 18th of December. We charge a 15 dollar fee for a withdraw. After the 18th of December we do not offer refunds.
