Lanao del Norte (Cebuano: Amihanang Lanaw; Tagalog: Hilagang Lanaw), is a province in the Philippines located in the Northern Mindanao region. Its capital is Tubod.
The province borders Lanao del Sur to the southeast, Zamboanga del Sur to the west, Illana Bay to the southwest, Iligan Bay to the north, Iligan City to the northeast, and is separated from Misamis Occidental by Panguil Bay to the northwest. Situated within Lanao del Norte is the highly urbanized city of Iligan, which is governed independently from the province.
The province of Lanao existed from 1914 until 1959. Republic Act No. 2228 divided Lanao into two (2) provinces giving birth to Lanao del Norte and Lanao del Sur. The new province was inaugurated on July 4, 1959 making Tubod as the capital. Salvador T. Lluch was the first Governor of Lanao del Norte. Second was Mohammad Ali Dimaporo, from January 1960 to September 1965 when Governor Dimaporo ran and won the congressional seat of the province. By operation of the law of succession, Vice Governor Arsenio A. Quibranza became the third Provincial Chief Executive of the province. By the mandate of the inhabitants, Governor Quibranza was elected Governor in 1967 and almost unanimously re-elected in 1971 and again in 1980.
Del Norte may refer to:
Lala VC (20 April 1876 – 23 March 1927) was an Indian recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest and most prestigious award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth soldiers.
Lala was born at Parol, Hamirpur district, Himachal Pradesh, India in 1876. He entered the Indian Army in February 1901. He was 38 years old, and a Lance-Naik in the 41st Dogras, Indian Army, when he was awarded the VC during World War I for most conspicuous bravery.
The citation reads:
Finding a British officer of another regiment lying close to the enemy, he dragged him into a temporary shelter, which he himself had made, and in which he had already bandaged four wounded men. After bandaging his wounds he heard calls from the Adjutant of his own regiment who was lying in the open severely wounded. The enemy were not more than one hundred yards distant, and it seemed certain death to go out in that direction, but Lance Naik Lala insisted on going out to his Adjutant, and offered to crawl back with him on his back at once. When this was not permitted, he stripped off his own clothing to keep the wounded officer warmer, and stayed with him till just before dark, when he returned to the shelter.
Lala is a first class municipality in the province of Lanao del Norte, Philippines. According to the 2010 census, it has a population of 65,355 people.
Lala is a vast plain within the Kapatagan Valley, consisting of 14,025 hectares (34,660 acres) along the coast of Panguil Bay. It is located about 14 kilometres (8.7 mi) from the municipality of Tubod, the seat of the provincial government, and 67.5 kilometres (41.9 mi) south-west of Iligan City, the commercial center of the province. It is geographically bounded on the north-west by Panguil Bay, on the north-east by the municipality of Baroy, on the south by the municipality of Kapatagan and on the east by the municipality of Salvador.
Lala is politically subdivided into 27 barangays.

A Visit in Barangay Darumawang Bucana, Lala, Lanao del Norte
Lanao Del Norte is a province in Northern Mindanao, Philippines. For a lot of Filipinos and foreigners... there are stereotypes and negative images of the province due to events that have happened in the area. A lot of the media coverage and talk of Lanao Del Norte will usually focus on negative events that have occurred. Sometimes due to this people forget there are a lot of beautiful, positive things about the province :) Well I just drove my scooter through Lanao Del Norte to Pagadian City, Zamboanga Del Sur. Here is my "raw road-trip" experience. I just wanted to show you the peace, happiness and beauty that exists. When I hear people say "Lanao Del Norte"... I will always think of happiness, adventure and beauty :) I left out Tinago Falls (which you should look up on the ...

It gets a bit more busy past the 1 minute mark, skip to there to get a better idea. Typical big town in the Philippines. Lots of people/goods moving very efficiently - no traffic light, no helmets, all bicycles/motorcycles or large trucks, no signs, no speed limits, and you won't see police. Yet despite this, there is hardly ever an accident. People/traffic move freely, reading the road as they see it - relying on their brains, not laws/signs (which is more powerful? the people or government). Zamboanga Del Sur is a province in Southern Mindanao. I drove my scooter to Pagadian City and then found myself on an adventure with the Mindanao Mountaineering Federation. This is "Part 1" of my journey to the small village of Tigbao, and trekking up to the beautiful Lake Maragang in Zamboanga Del Sur. In this video you will see my experience of "Toploading" on a Jeepney, finding wild Santol fruit and experiencing the beautiful pristine nature of Mindanao. A lot of people forget that Mindanao is home to lots of natural beauty just waiting to be explored. As I say in the video: "No if you are a foreigner you shouldn't just wander off in the middle of nowhere." But if you do a little research, talk with locals (or join mountaineering groups)... there is a lot of safe beautiful places ...
I woke up early and randomly decided to ride a bus out of Manila in search of a spontaneous adventure! Turns out the bus I rode took 3.5 hours outside of the city to the Province of Quezon! The rainy weather added to the raw beauty of the coast, and I found myself exploring some local waterfalls... WHICH TURNED OUT TO BE AMAZING! This video reminds me that waking up early to travel in the Philippines is always a good idea... You never know just how beautiful your day can be! Especially if you need a break from Manila!
