This page has been designed for members of the ASV's Comet Section, to submit their reports, images, and to communicate and share, their experiences, with other group members.
As a member, you will receive regular bulletins on new comets, new developments, Cometary outbursts, and any Cometary news of interest.
Bulletins will include easy to read finder charts, and handy hints on observing comets.
The ASV Comet section caters for all levels of experience.
New discoveries of amateur interest, will be communicated to members within 24 hours of JPL notification.
Membership is open to all ASV members, even if you want to receive the bulletins only, and do not plan to be active within the section.
Members are encouraged to send their observation reports to the group.
Reports will be forwarded to the JPL webpage by me, crediting the observer, and the ASV Comet section
(If the observer is happy to do so).
Amateur reports are very much sort after by the JPL
Members are also encouraged to submit the observation reports to "Crux".
It is also important to note, with the Linear and Neat projects focusing mainly in the Northern skies, amateur's still have a real chance of discovering a comet of their own. eg Bill Bradfield.
The Comet section will get together occasionally, to observe at the LMDSS, and other dark sky locations.
eg If there is a bright comet, or comet of interest, in our skies
Section meetings may be held occasionally, dates will be communmicated on this forum.
MEMBERSHIP TO THIS GROUP IS RESTRICTED TO ASV MEMBERS ONLY
