At least 27 people were killed and 53 wounded Saturday after two suicide bombers attacked a central Baghdad market. “Many of the victims were people from the spare parts shops in the area, they were gathered near a cart selling breakfast when the explosions went off,” a local shop seller was cited as saying by Agence France-Presse. The attack took place in the Al-Sinek neighborhood, next to one of the main roads in the city. The Islamic State later claimed responsibility for the attack. It marks the first bombing in Baghdad since mid-October, when Iraqi forces began an offensive to retake Mosul.
