There had to be one more.
The year of celebrity deaths came to a sad close with the loss of one last Hollywood star Saturday night. Actor William Christopher, best known for playing Father Mulcahy on the TV series “M*A*S*H,” died, according to relatives. He was 84.
Christopher’s son, John Christopher, told ABC his father died of cancer at his home in Pasadena, Calif.
Christopher was on “M*A*S*H*” from 1972 to 1983 and the follow-up series “After M*A*S*H*” from 1983 to 1985. He also had parts on “Hogan’s Heroes,” and “Gomer Pyle: USMC”.
In the 1980s, Christopher lent his voice to the “Smurfs.”
Christopher, who was a real-life Methodist priest, according to TMZ, often took on the roles of clergy.
Most recently, in 2012, he portrayed Father Tobias in a 11-episode guest stint on “Days of Our Lives”.
