New Year's Eve 2017: Times Square live ball drop and how to watch celebration online

Times Square is the hub of excitement for New Year's Eve 2017 and the live ball drop that says so long to 2016. But if you can't make it to the Big Apple, or more likely don't want to deal with the crowds, you can join in the fun from the comfort of your home and watch live video feeds.

Events will get under way at 6 p.m. as the giant ball is raised over Times Square, followed by live musical performances and hourly countdowns. Here's what you need to know:

Where can I watch the live stream?

The show will be streamed live on several websites, including TimesSquareNYC.orgNewYearsEve.nycLivestream.com/2017 and TimesSquareBall.net. The webcast is also available on Android and Apple devices with the Times Square Ball App.

What time does the Times Square New Year's Eve live stream start?

The webcast will begin at 6 p.m. ET and end at 12:15 a.m. on January 1.

Where can I watch the Times Square ball drop on TV? What time does it start on TV?

ABC's broadcast will start at 8 p.m. ET with host Ryan Seacrest. Carson Daly hosts NBC's show at 11:30 p.m. ET. CNN's Anderson Cooper will be joined by Kathy Griffin for their live show at 8 p.m. ET. On Fox, Pitbull is the host with a show beginning at 8 p.m. ET.

Who is performing during the live stream event?

Gavin DeGraw and Rachel Platten will headline the live webcast, along with rapper and songwriter, Silento, and upcoming artist Jojo Abot. Platten will continue the New Year's Eve tradition of singing John Lennon's "Imagine" just before midnight.

Also, the USO Show Troupe will perform "A Military Salute" to honor our armed forces. The Troupe performs for approximately 600,000 service members and their families worldwide and members include Broadway, Off Broadway and other well-known entertainers.

The live stream will be hosted by Allison Hagendorf and Jonathan Bennett, along with street correspondents Andrea Boehlke and Jeremy Hassell.
