Meet the Good Food team

Roslyn Grundy, editor of The Age Good Food Guide. In her spare time she bakes, grows vegetables and wrangles backyard chooks.

  1. Last meal on earth
Marcella Hazan's roast chicken with lemons, Greek potatoes (diced and roasted in olive oil, lemon juice and garlic) and a green salad.

  2. Three foods you'd take to a deserted island.
Garlic, lemon and chillies. Almost everything I cook starts with one of these.

  3. Soundtrack to your ideal meal.
Fat Freddy's Drop Based on a True Story. There's a reason it's become a cafe cliche.

  4. Every morning I wake up to...
Two cups of tea before I am capable of functioning.

  5. Fave tipple
    Dry martini. Hold the espresso.

Scott Bolles, Good Food contributor and Short Black editor

  1. What would your last meal on earth be?
    WA Marron

  2. Three foods you'd take to a deserted island
Iggy’s Bread. Vegemite. Anchovies (can’t have too much seafood)

  3. Soundtrack to your ideal meal
Marvin Gaye’s Got to Give it Up

  4. Every morning I wake up to...
Coffee, family, Labrador puppy (sadly not in that order)

  5. Favourite tipple
    Riesling

Jane Holroyd, Good Food writer/producer

  1. Last meal on earth
Something with loads of spice and chilli - maybe Dainty Sichuan's mapo tofu

  2. Three foods you'd take to a deserted island
How long will I be stuck there? Does coffee count as food?

  3. Soundtrack to your ideal meal
Not music actually. Let's say the happy buzz of chatter from friends/family

  4. Every morning I wake up to...
Homemade muesli with everything but the kitchen sink

  5. Fave tipple
    Cold beer! Hot days!

Myffy Rigby, National Good Food Guides Editor, Creative Director of The Sydney Morning Herald's Food and Drink events. When not eating in restaurants for work, she is eating in restaurants for fun.

  1. Last meal on earth
A toasted cheese sandwich with lots of pepper and the right amount of butter made over a campfire chased with a fifth of whisky, shared with my best friends

  2. Three foods you'd take to a deserted island
Soy sauce, wasabi and ginger - I'm guessing I'll be eating a lot of raw fish, since I can't light a fire to save my life.

  3. Soundtrack to your ideal meal
    Paul's Boutique.

  4. Every morning I wake up to...
The sound of sirens and kookaburras - welcome to Kings Cross.

  5. Fave tipple
A Manhattan on the Rocks with a beer back

Callan Boys, Editor, Good Food Guide Brisbane

  1. Last meal on earth
Barbecue chicken on a soft fresh white roll and pasta salad on the side. An Australian classic and at such a juncture I wouldn't be welcoming any surprises. Unless it was a death row pardon. That would be fine.

  2. Three foods you'd take to a deserted island
Salt for curing, oranges to ward off scurvy and it'll be hot so, I don't know. Maybe some Zooper Doopers.

  3. Soundtrack to your ideal meal
    Pavement, Brighten the Corners.

  4. Every morning I wake up to...
Muesli and fruit. This (probably falsely) lets me believe I can eat whatever I like for the rest of the day.

  5. Fave tipple
Fernet Branca and Coke. Preferably in 40 degree heat over an Argentinian grill.

Lee Tran Lam, writer/producer, Good Food

  1. Last meal on earth
Hot chips, pizza (maybe even hot chips ON pizza?) and Messina's tiramisu gelato.

  2. Three foods you'd take to a deserted island
Bread, miso, yuzu - hopefully that combo will go well with my incredibly low-level foraging skills.

  3. Soundtrack to your ideal meal
    The second Avalanches album

  4. Every morning I wake up to...
Toast (and not enough chances to hit the snooze button)

  5. Fave tipple
Yuzu sake (aka karaoke juice), yuzu tea, yuzu everything.

Annabel Smith, writer/producer, Good Food

  1. Last meal on earth
Bucatini carbonara with smoky pancetta and way too much parmesan - hold the cream.

  2. Three foods you'd take to a deserted island
    Gin, tonic, mi goreng.

  3. Soundtrack to your ideal meal
    Belle & Sebastian's back catalogue

  4. Every morning I wake up to...
Ideally cold carbonara (breakfast of champions), but failing that, a strong coffee.

  5. Fave tipple
Pimms punch with all the trimmings.

Nedahl Stelio, Editor, Goodfood.com.au

  1. Last meal on earth
Fresh prawns with plenty of lemon and a soft sprinkling of pepper.

  2. Three foods you'd take to a deserted island
I’d take a chicken to collect the eggs. Lemon to eat with the fish I’d be catching. And avocado. Hopefully I could grow some kind of tree from the seed.

  3. Soundtrack to your ideal meal
This will change constantly, but right now it’s the Temper Trap.

  4. Every morning I wake up to...
Children climbing on top of me. And eggs, cooked in coconut oil, with salt and pepper.

  5. Fave tipple
French champagne. A salty margherita. A good pinot noir. Should I go on?

    Bruce Springsteen's The River
    Justin Townes Earle's Absent Fathers

Having to soak the oats and grate the apple for my bircher muesli (taken with yoghurt, honey, banana, nuts and seeds).

  5. Fave tipple
Gin (McHenry’s from Tasmania) and tonic.

Jill Dupleix, Good Food writer and restaurant critic, and author of 16 cookbooks. But really, I cook so I can sit down at the table to eat and drink and have fun.

    Avocado, lemon, dark chocolate.

    Lorikeets on the balcony

  5. Fave tipple
Campari and soda followed immediately by Pinot Noir.

Nina Rousseau, Editor, Good Food

  1. Last meal on earth
A roast with all the trimmings (baked sweet potato, royal blue spuds, parsnip, carrots, hot garlic that you suck from its wrapper), an awesome gravy, and maybe even cauliflower ‘n’ cheese. Or maybe dumplings...

  2. Three foods you'd take to a deserted island
    Apples. White taramosalata dip. Crackers.

  3. Soundtrack to your ideal meal
    Eilen Jewell

  4. Every morning I wake up to...
Family. And a cup of coffee in bed while looking out at the window at our fig and plum trees.

  5. Fave tipple
Probs a White Rabbit (dark) while cooking dinner. Red wine (all sorts). White wine (all sorts). In summer, a gin and tonic in a tall glass with loads of ice and fresh lime clinked with mates in the backyard.
