Wikipedia:Biography dos and don'ts

Biography articles follow particular rules for consistency and ease of use.

When editing biographies:

DO: Be familiar with the special rules for living persons. Identify key information in the first paragraph. State vital years after the subject's name in the lead. Use the subject's common name as the article title. Use full name in the first sentence, and surname thereafter. Write in the appropriate tense. Place {{Authority control}} at the foot, adding ID's in Wikidata.	DON'T: Don't create pages for people who are not notable. Don't rely on unreliable sources. Don't promote the subject. Don't use titles or honorifics with the subject's name. Don't make statements that will become out of date. Don't place undue weight on the subject's sexuality. Don't use inappropriate categories.
