Thousands of officers and citizens lined the streets of New York to say goodbye to a great man, New York Police Department Detective Steven McDonald. Those outside St. Patrick's Cathedral in Manhattan paid their respects to McDonald who was paralyzed after being shot three times in 1986 by a teenager stealing a bike in Central Park. While visiting a friend in Queens I come upon officers questioning this guy at length while reviewing his credentials, thereafter, officers handcuffed and took this man in for no reason, other than the fact that he was walking down the block minding his business. Now I do not know the reasons why, but I did hear the guy saying he was on his way to work and that he wanted the officers to call his employment, however, he was arrested and taken in...and in the process of this man being detained, officers failed to secure the guys weapon before placing him in the Patrol Car...This is definitely strictly against the NYPD Patrol Guide

New York City Police Department
The New York City Police Department (NYPD or NYCPD), officially the City of New York Police Department, was established in 1845 and is the largest municipal police force in the United States, having primary responsibilities in law enforcement and investigation within the five boroughs of New York City. The NYPD is one of the oldest police departments established in the United States, tracing its roots back to the seventeenth century.
The NYPD has a broad array of specialized services, including the Emergency Service Unit, K9, harbor patrol, air support, bomb disposal, counter-terrorism, criminal intelligence, anti-gang, anti-organized crime, narcotics, public transportation and public housing; the New York City Transit Police and New York City Housing Authority Police Department were fully integrated into the NYPD in 1995. Thousands of officers and citizens lined the streets of New York to say goodbye to a great man, New York Police Department Detective Steven McDonald. Those outside St. Patrick's Cathedral in Manhattan paid their respects to McDonald who was paralyzed after being shot three times in 1986 by a teenager stealing a bike in Central Park. The detective received praise after he publically forgave the young boy, inspiring those around him for years to follow.

While visiting a friend in Queens I come upon officers questioning this guy at length while reviewing his credentials, thereafter, officers handcuffed and took this man in for no reason, other than the fact that he was walking down the block minding his business. Now I do not know the reasons why, but I did hear the guy saying he was on his way to work and that he wanted the officers to call his employment, however, he was arrested and taken in...and in the process of this man being detained, officers failed to secure the guys weapon before placing him in the Patrol Car...This is definitely strictly against the NYPD Patrol Guide
