The Tory narrative on housing is that home ownership is an inherent good AND your home should be a magic piggy bank that makes you loads of money while you live in it. At some point those two things are in total opposition to one another.

  8. Well done the economist, you've given bannon a platform to look like a principled man of the right while your editor appears to be capable of nothing more then taking cheap shots at him. This is just what happened to c4 news with Jordan peterson

  9. I could only bring myself to watch five minutes of this, but did the editor of the economist really think this would do anything other than give Steve bannon a chance to trot out his well rehearsed patter while she tries (poorly) to skewer him?

  10. Congratulations to the economist for giving a platform to Steve bannon where he instantly makes its editor look utterly ineffectual. Hurrah for liberalism

Incase u didn't know, a huge story came out today about A MILLION more Yemeni CHILDREN facing famine. A total of 5.2 million children are now facing famine. Babies are physically too weak to cry. And the fact that our government arms Saudi Arabia is fucking barbaric. I hate this.

The Democrats in the USA have it, the SNP have it and Labour Cllrs have it; There's no reason there should not be for Labour MPs so we have a genuinely democratic Labour Party.

It's that time of year... 1st year students are on campus -born 1999/2000 -no memory of 9/11 -no memory of Iraq War -no memory of Tony Blair -only vague memory of 2008 crash -first memorable election was 2010 -couldn't vote in EURef -"only ever lived in austerity"

Fascinating stuff. The BBC in '71 apologising to Lord Carrington for running an interview with innocent shooting victim Bobby Clarke, accurately describing the shooting of Fr Mullan who'd out to help him. The BBC said running this eyewitness account was "an error of judgement"
