EIB launches EUR 1bn "Loans for SMEs and MidCaps" credit line to Greek banks

The loans will be used by Greek banks for on-lending to SMEs and MidCaps active in the agriculture, tourism, manufacturing, services and other sectors. Within the context of EIB's "Skills and Jobs - Investing for Youth" initiative, additional financial advantages will be offered to companies promoting youth employment.

 

EIB supports energy neutral social housing in the Netherlands

Dutch Social housing foundation Sint Trudo and the European Investment Bank have signed a financing agreement of EUR 150 million. The facility made available by the EIB will be used to build new housing units, largely energy neutral, in the region around the city of Eindhoven. Existing rental housing with a relatively low energy label will also be made more sustainable.

 

EIB takes Investment Plan for Europe well over half its target and approves first gender strategy

On 13 December 2016, the Board of the European Investment Bank approved more than EUR 10.5 billion of new financing for innovation, resource efficiency, education, water infrastructure and sustainable transport, as well as small business investment. The approval of 26 new projects backed by the EFSI guarantee under the Investment Plan for Europe brought the total related investment to over EUR 162 billion, well over half the EUR 315 billion target set for the end of 2018. The Board also approved the EIB Group’s first ever gender strategy.

 

EUR 438 million to support renewable energy in Belgium

The European Investment Bank will support the construction of the Norther wind farm, the third wind project off the Belgian coast to be supported under the Investment Plan for Europe. Upon completion, its 44 wind turbines will deliver an estimated 352 MW, enough to supply renewably generated electricity to around 324 000 Belgian families.
