Another millionaire for WA as Lotto luck continues

A second West Australian has become a millionaire overnight this week after picking up $1 million in Wednesday's lotto draw.

The winning ticket was sold at Bibra Lake News and Lotteries and follows another lucky punter scooping $1 million in Monday night's draw after purchasing a ticket in Katanning.

What happens when you win lotto?

It's a dream for many but only a handful of lucky people will get to experience the process of what happens if you come across those winning numbers.

Both tickets remain unclaimed.

Wednesday's win is the latest in a run of Lotto luck for WA in December.

It follows a young Armadale family scooping the entire division one $10 million jackpot, a single mother from Mandurah winning $4.8 million in Set For Life and a Kununnura family picking up more than $670,000.

Owner of Bibra Lake News and Lotteries Rixiang Tian said it was an exciting moment for the store as it was the first division one winner sold there in the three years of owning it.

"We're so happy, we just can't believe it! To have made one of our customers a million dollars richer is the best feeling," he said.

Lotto retailers are expecting a busy day on Thursday with only hours left until the $35 million Powerball jackpot.

Lotterywest confirmed retailers were set for a big day with ticket sales peaking between 4pm and 5pm.

"During our busiest hour around 425 tickets will be purchased each minute, so we encourage players to get their tickets early to avoid the afternoon rush," Lotterywest spokeswoman Pina Compagnone said.

Meanwhile WA players will have an extra hour to pick up their tickets in the $31 million Megadraw with a 7pm draw cut off on New Year's Eve.
