The financial, commercial and cultural epicenter of West Yorkshire, Leeds is the UK's largest centre for business and financial services outside of London. The city can trace its history way back to the 5th century when the Kingdom of Elmet was covered by a forest called "Loidis", which is apparently where the name Leeds originated from.
Today, visitors can enjoy sophisticated shopping and louche dining while also taking in some truly stunning international class museums and galleries. There are also some assiduously designed buildings, including Leeds Town Hall and the Victoria Quarter. Of course, Leeds is also known for being something of a sporting hub.
After dark, the city really comes alive and those looking for some spectacular late night entertainment should enjoy Leeds' legendary nightlife. From excellent music venues to internationally acclaimed clubs, the city has a little something for everyone.
