Would you like to live next door to one of your best friends? What about all of them?
Well four couples from Texas are doing just that. They got into the Tiny House movement in a big way and built their own mini-commune.
The friends of 20 years banded together to create the “Llano Exit Strategy”. They bought a stretch of land next to the Llano River and reportedly considered building one big house so they could all live together.
But after enlisting the help of architect Matt Garcia, they came up with the “Bestie Row”, where each couple could have their own space.
They made one big space for them all to eat, cook, and hang out together, but four beautifully designed cabins stand close by with private sleeping, living, and bathroom spaces.
Each cabin cost $US40,000 ($A55,500) for about 37 square metres of space and the common area is nearly 140 square metres.
It can get hot on the banks of the Llano River, so each house is fitted with galvanised metal and foam insulation to keep the inside temperatures manageable.
Each house also has a sloped roof designed to catch as much rain as possible.
