Machine

A machine is a tool containing one or more parts that uses energy to perform an intended action. Machines are usually powered by mechanical, chemical, thermal, or electrical means, and are often motorized. Historically, a power tool also required moving parts to classify as a machine. However, the advent of electronics has led to the development of power tools without moving parts that are considered machines.

A simple machine is a device that simply transforms the direction or magnitude of a force, but a large number of more complex machines exist. Examples include vehicles, electronic systems, molecular machines, computers, television, and radio.

Etymology

The word machine derives from the Latin word machina, which in turn derives from the Greek (Doric μαχανά makhana, Ionic μηχανή mekhane "contrivance, machine, engine", a derivation from μῆχος mekhos "means, expedient, remedy").

A wider meaning of "fabric, structure" is found in classical Latin, but not in Greek usage.

This meaning is found in late medieval French, and is adopted from the French into English in the mid-16th century.

Scott Helman

Scott Helman (born October 1, 1995) is a Canadian singer-songwriter from Toronto, Ontario. He released his debut EP, Augusta, on October 14, 2014 on Warner Music Canada. The video for Helman's debut single "Bungalow" was nominated for a Much Music Video Award at the 2015 Much Music Video Awards, where he performed the song live. His music has been described as landing somewhere between Vance Joy and Jeff Buckley.

Early life

Born and raised in Toronto, Helman graduated in 2013 from Earl Haig Secondary School. He got his guitar for his 10th birthday and by the time he was 14 he knew he wanted to be a professional musician. At 15 years old, he signed a development deal with Warner Music Canada where he began writing sessions with writers such as Simon Wilcox and Thomas "Tawgs" Salter. He then began putting his music up on YouTube on April 6, 2014. He attended Camp White Pine in Haliburton, Ontario and Camp Manitou in McKellar, Ontario as a camper.

Helman lists his main influences as Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Ray LaMontagne, Damian Rice, The Cure and Pink Floyd.

Andie passes the audition but isn't sure she fits in there. The school's director, Blake Collins, isn't sure she fits in there either. Blake is a brilliant dancer but looks for conformity to his way. After learning that Andie's absences from rehearsals are due to her new association with MSA, Tuck kicks her out of the 410. Chase Collins, a dance student at MSA, convinces Andie to start her own street dance crew using all the dance misfits from MSA i.e. those that don't conform to Blake's way of thinking. Chase feels like he's one of those misfits being Blake's brother and living in his shadow. This new association brings up a few conflicts within Andie, as her new dance crew tries to gain respect on the streets, especially among her old and judgmental friends, and as she and the crew try to hide the fact of what they're doing from Blake, who ultimately threatens expulsion from the school of anyone participating in the illegal street competitions.
