Compass

A compass is an instrument used for navigation and orientation that shows direction relative to the geographic "cardinal directions", or "points". Usually, a diagram called a compass rose, shows the directions north, south, east, and west as abbreviated initials marked on the compass. When the compass is used, the rose can be aligned with the corresponding geographic directions, so, for example, the "N" mark on the rose really points to the north. Frequently, in addition to the rose or sometimes instead of it, angle markings in degrees are shown on the compass. North corresponds to zero degrees, and the angles increase clockwise, so east is 90 degrees, south is 180, and west is 270. These numbers allow the compass to show azimuths or bearings, which are commonly stated in this notation.

The magnetic compass was first invented as a device for divination as early as the Chinese Han Dynasty (since about 206 BC), and later adopted for navigation by the Song Dynasty Chinese during the 11th century. The use of a compass is recorded in Western Europe and in Persia around the early 13th century.

Zella Day Kerr (born March 13, 1995), known professionally as Zella Day, is an American singer-songwriter from Pinetop, Arizona.

Life and career

Early life

Zella and her sister Mia were born and raised in Pinetop, Arizona.

2012–present: Kicker and Zella Day

Day released her first single (cover of The White Stripes) "Seven Nation Army" on June 14, 2012, under WAX LTD. She was featured in Sultan & Ned Shepard's single "All These Roads" along with Sam Martin. A music video was released a few weeks later on October 22, 2013. On March 21, 2014, Day released an audio for a song of hers called "1965". The song was later packed digitally, making up her debut single, "1965/Sweet Ophelia". The single was released in April, 2014. That same month, Day released her debut extended play "Zella Day" on vinyl. A video for "Sweet Ophelia" was released a few months later on October 24, 2014. That same day, she released the EP, "Zella Day", onto digital outlets. The EP features its lead single "Sweet Ophelia", along with the songs "Hypnotic", "East of Eden", and "Compass", although "1965" was left out for unknown reasons. The EP received critical acclaim, Addy Stupin from The Harborlight gave the EP high praise, as "incredibly satisfying and impressive". The extended play also peaked at #16 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart.

Lady Antebellum

Lady Antebellum is an American country music group formed in Nashville, Tennessee in 2006. The group is composed of Hillary Scott (lead and background vocals), Charles Kelley (lead and background vocals, guitar), and Dave Haywood (background vocals, guitar, piano, mandolin). Scott is the daughter of country music singer Linda Davis, and Kelley is the brother of pop singer Josh Kelley.

The group made its debut in 2007 as guest vocalists on Jim Brickman's single "Never Alone", before signing to Capitol Nashville. Lady Antebellum has released five albums for Capitol: Lady Antebellum, Need You Now, Own the Night, Golden, and 747, plus one Christmas album (On This Winter's Night). Their first three albums are certified platinum or higher by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The albums have produced sixteen singles on the Hot Country Songs and Country Airplay charts, of which nine have reached number 1. Their longest-lasting number 1 single is "Need You Now", which spent five weeks at that position in 2009; both that song and 2011's "Just a Kiss" reached number 1 on the Adult Contemporary charts.

Pom-pom

A pom-pom – also spelled pom-pon, pompom or pompon – is a loose, fluffy, decorative ball or tuft of fibrous material. Pom-poms may come in many colors, sizes, and varieties and are made from a wide array of materials, including wool, cotton, paper, plastic, and occasionally feathers. Pom-poms are shaken by cheerleaders, pom or dance teams, and sports fans during spectator sports. Small decorative pom-poms may be attached to clothing; these are sometimes called toories or bobbles.

Pom-pom is derived from the French word pompon, which refers to a small decorative ball made of fabric or feathers.

Jeep Compass

The Jeep Compass (MK49) is a compact crossover SUV introduced for the 2007 model year by Jeep. The Jeep Compass, along with the Patriot both slot below the Jeep Wrangler as Jeep's entry-level sport utility vehicles, and is one of Jeep's first crossover SUVs.

The Jeep Compass and Jeep Patriot are to be phased out by 2018 and be replaced by an SUV using either of the names.

History

Concept

Four years prior to the introduction of the production Jeep Compass, a concept vehicle with the same name had its world premiere in Detroit at the 2002 North American International Auto Show. It featured a two-door body, all-wheel drive and a 3.7-liter V6 engine.

The 3.7 L Power-Tech V6 engine from the Jeep Liberty did not make it into the all-new Compass for 2007, though the production model Compass kept the concept car's styling cues and some of its features. The production model compass also had four doors instead of the two doors on the concept car.

Introduction

Jeep debuted the production version of the Compass at the 2006 North American International Auto Show in January. The first Compass was assembled on May 30, 2006, in Belvidere, Illinois, where the Dodge Neon was produced.
