The Latest From Moana...

APRA Amcos NZ Music Hall of Fame (4 Oct)
It was my huge honour to be the 2016 inductee into the NZ Music Hall of Fame this year. The event was held at the Vector Arena and it was truly surreal being introduced by my dear friend Hinewehi Mohi, an iconic musician and leader herself. A video montage was played (a bit like This is Your Life) and after my speech, an exciting new band called Soccer Practice performed their interpretation of "Tahi." I was surrounded by my whanau and friends. Truly an amazing experience and I am still breathless about the efforts everyone went to.

Newsflash (18 Sep)
Its all go here! Huakirangi, new single co-written with Scotty Morrison and Paddy Free (thanks to Te Mangai Paaho) will be released on Sept 23. Honestly, it is seriously electro-funk...I love it. In other news, Paddy, Toby and I also found out we will be taking our dub-party sounds to the Arctics northern Finland in January so we are creating a brand new show for that...with Tobys filmmaking help. "Sunday" (TVNZ) are currently editing a profile on me that goes to air on Sept 25. And this Tues, I'm on the brand new "Breakfast TV" hosted by Hilary Barry and Jack Tame. I've also put together a pretty cool line-up for our school featuring Anika Moa, Swamp Thing, Tama Waipara, Hinewehi and more for Oct 29. Just a wee bit going on eh?!!

News Alert (7 Sep)
We are preparing to launch a scorching new single, completely in Māori (lyrics by The Professor aka Scotty Morrison) and co-written by Paddy Free and myself. "Huakirangi" will be out in a weeks time, available through iTunes and all other digital platforms. Woohoo! Kia ora to Te Mangai Pāho.

NEWS FLASH (6 Aug)
Currently editing new video for "Fire in Paradise" - waiting for guest vocalist Skarra Mucci to film his bits on the beaches of Barcelona (some people get all the luck!) And preparing to release "Huakirangi" - my new most favourite song. With a karakia written by Scotty Morrison, Paddy Free and I had the most awesome time putting this baby together. It's got a wonderful tension in the music and lyrics and then the sun just bursts right on through as the lyric talks about the sun farewelling the night. So gorgeous.

New Video (8 Jul)
We had a fun time laat week filming a hot new video on a cold, windy, west coast beach. Loads of laughs. Hard to concentrate when some of the video performers were struggling to get their truck up off the dunes! Looking forward to director Kimiora Jackson editing. Incredible dance moves from the stunning Kaea Pearce, riveting!

New Single (16 May)
Happy to announce our new single FIRE IN PARADISE is available now through iTunes as a pre-order. A remake of Timor, this song features the caramel-flavoured vocals of Jamaican dancehall king Skarra Mucci. The song will be launched on May 27. Pre-order on iTunes.
