Designer Coffins
There's nothing cheerful about a coffin - until you cover it with colorful pictures. The idea of decorating caskets is helping some people come to terms with that only somber certainty we all have in life.

Sleepless
Back in the 70’s and 80’s oversize caskets were hard to get and poorly made. Special size caskets were made by hand, and without much regard to quality or integrity. In 1985, Forrest Davis, (Pee Wee) quit his job as a welder in a casket factory and said, “Boys, I’m gonna go home and build oversize caskets that you would be proud to put your mother in.” He and his wife Mary, saw the need to produce a quality oversize casket. The company started in an old converted hog barn by offering just two sizes and one color. From those beginnings, the company expanded rapidly to a full range of sizes starting at 29” wide, up to 52” wide, and up to 8 feet long. 2,1m wide casket for a 408 kg dead man

Coffin making is no longer something that is commonly done here in the United States. Coffins as burial receptacles have been replaced with modern day caskets, and cremation urns. However, coffins are still widely used in Europe and other countries. Coffin It Up features coffin furniture, jewelry and storage boxes, and actual coffins for burial
