Heavy traffic for holidaymakers heading into Batemans Bay

  • 21 reading now

Holidaymakers heading to the South Coast have experienced delays of up to an hour on the Kings Highway into Batemans Bay.

Live Traffic NSW had reported queues of more than 8.5 kilometres long on the eastbound highway towards the coastal town.

The queues have since dropped to 6.5 kilometres, adding about 45 minutes to a trip.

The video below, taken by Matthew Witcombe, was from 2km north of the roundabout intersecting the Princes and Kings highways.

Further north at Berry, 8.5-kilometre queues on the Princes Highway southbound are expected to delay travellers by half an hour.

At Milton and Ulladulla, Live Traffic NSW has reported traffic southbound on the Princes Highway as busy, but not delayed.

There have been unrelated traffic delays closer to Canberra. At Royalla, a truck tipped onto its side on the Old Cooma Road exit to the Monaro Highway, delaying traffic as police cleared the scene.

A string of 30-plus degree days is forecast for the coming week, with a heatwave predicted to settle across much of the NSW east coast, including Batemans Bay.
