Muni (film)

Muni (Tamil: முனி) is a 2007 Tamil comedy-horror film directed and written by Raghava Lawrence, who also plays the lead role. Vedhicka, Rajkiran and Rahul Dev among other play supporting roles, while the film's score is composed by Bharathwaj. The film released on 9 March 2007 along with a Telugu dubbed version of same name and gained average reviews and box office collections.Later,it was dubbed in Hindi as "Pratisodh-Ek Real Revenge" In 2011, a sequel titled Muni 2: Kanchana was released by Raghava Lawrence. It was the first film in the installment of Muni (film series).

Raghava Lawrence

Raghava Lawrence (born 29 October 1976) is an Indian choreographer who has also appeared in films as an actor, director, composer and playback singer. After making his debut as a choreographer in 1993, he began looking for acting opportunities. He began his career as an actor in 1998, in a Telugu film, aged 22. He adopted the name "Lawrence" in 2001, and worked for many prominent actors and directors in Tamil cinema throughout his career. He got his breakthrough with Telugu film Style and then Muni. Lawrence is also known for his intricate hip-hop and westernised dance moves and has won 4 Filmfare Awards and 3 Nandi Awards for best choreography. In 2015, after the death of former Indian president A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, Lawrence set up a charity trust in his name and donated 1 crore to it.

Career

Lawrence had brain tumor when he was a child and rarely went to school. He got cured after his mother went to a temple of Raghavendra Swami and Lawrence strongly believes that it was Raghavendra Swami who cured him of his tumour. He became an ardent devotee of the deity and added its name to his name. He built the Raghavendra Swamy Brindavanam Temple at Thirumullaivayal on the Avadi-Ambattur route, which opened from 1 January 2010.

Film

Kanchana 2

Kanchana 2 (marketed as Muni 3: Kanchana 2) is a 2015 Tamil horror comedy film produced, written and directed by Raghava Lawrence, who enacted dual roles in it. It is the third installment in the Muni series after Muni 2: Kanchana. The film, also featuring Taapsee Pannu, Nithya Menen and Kovai Sarala in lead roles, released worldwide on 17 April 2015. The Telugu version Ganga was released on 1 May 2015.

Plot

The film begins with a couple visiting a friend's home for dinner. To their surprise, the hosts are not home and the place is haunted. In the present, Raghava (Raghava Lawrence) is a cameraman for the channel Green TV where his girlfriend Nandini (Tapsee Pannu) also works. When Green TV drops down to second position in the ratings, Nandini advises to shoot a horror program to bring their channel back to the first position. After the board members agree on this plan, Nandini decides on a location with a house with an intense haunted look, without knowing the fact that it is actually haunted. She sets out with Raghava, his watchman Mayil (Mayilsamy), Dr. Prasad (Sriman) and the anchor Pooja (Pooja Ramachandran) to complete the task.
