Portland Brew Pub

Gritty's sign in Portland

  • When Gritty’s Portland Brew Pub opened in 1988, it became Maine’s first brew pub since prohibition and a leader in the state’s craft brew revolution. Since then, locals of every stripe and visitors from around the world have been enjoying fine, small-batch ales brewed on-premise, great pub fare and an old world pub atmosphere.
  • Gritty’s Portland Brew Pub is the perfect place to experience the ambiance of Portland’s Old Port. Our Fore Street location is right in the heart of the historic district. Pull up a chair at our copper-topped bar, strike up a conversation at our beer hall style tables, or take in the street life on the cobblestones of Wharf Street from our Brewery Bar patio.
  • We’re open everyday and you’re always welcome. Gritty’s has become a Maine institution, garnering many awards for Best Bar, Best Brew Pub and Best Beer. Stop in, have a pint and see where the legend began. Cheers!

“Ayuh RIPA”- a locally sourced red IPA goes on tap on Saturday, Nov 5.
This ale comes in at 6.5 % ABV and the IBU’s are 60. This beer is unique because we used the first ever Maine grown & manufactured Cascade hop pellets (from Aroostook Hops) in the brew. Try this very exciting, new locally-sourced RIPA  when we tap it on Saturday 11/5 at Gritty’s Portland.

Best Brown Ale is back on tap at Gritty’s Portland sometime during November.
Best Brown Ale has a dark red-amber color, with a full, round malt palate, nutty and roasted accents, and a delicate hop flavor that whispers with just a hint of floral finish. Best Brown is the perfect ale for a long afternoon spent with good friends and some nice hearty food.
