Year 152 (CLII) was a leap year starting on Friday (link will display the full calendar) of the Julian calendar. At the time, it was known as the Year of the Consulship of Glabrio and Homullus (or, less frequently, year 905 Ab urbe condita). The denomination 152 for this year has been used since the early medieval period, when the Anno Domini calendar era became the prevalent method in Europe for naming years.

Destin Sandlin

Destin Sandlin, born 1981, is an American engineer widely known for his educational video series, Smarter Every Day (SED), which he created in 2007 as an informal series of educational Youtube videos — and which he formally named Smarter Every Day in early 2011, with an episode titled Detonation vs Deflagration.

With more than 3 million subscribers, Sandlin was one of three Youtube channel hosts selected in early 2016, as part of a White House initiative to reach millennial audiences, to conduct a one-on-one interview with President Obama after his final State of the Union address.

Background

Sandlin attended the University of Alabama as an undergraduate, where he studied mechanical engineering. He later obtained a graduate degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Alabama in Huntsville. While an undergraduate, he was awarded the University of Alabama's Outstanding Senior Award. He is a full-time Missile Flight Test Engineer at Redstone Arsenal.

A resident of Alabama, Destin is married with four children (two daughters and two sons); is a practicing Christian and credits his grandfather for having shaped his world view and for encouraging his love of science.

Cessna 152

The Cessna 152 is an American two-seat, fixed tricycle gear, general aviation airplane, used primarily for flight training and personal use. It was based on the earlier Cessna 150, including a number of minor design changes and a slightly more powerful engine running on 100LL aviation gasoline.

Development

First delivered in 1977 as the 1978 model year, the 152 was a modernization of the proven Cessna 150 design. The 152 was intended to compete with the new Beechcraft Skipper and Piper Tomahawk, both of which were introduced the same year. Additional design goals were to improve useful load through a gross weight increase to 1670 lbs (757 kg), decrease internal and external noise levels and run better on the then newly introduced 100LL fuel.

As with the 150, the great majority of 152s were built at the Cessna factory in Wichita, Kansas. A number of aircraft were also built by Reims Aviation of France and given the designation F152/FA152.

Production of the 152 was ended in 1985 when Cessna ended production of all of their light aircraft; by that time, a total of 7,584 examples of the 152, including A152 and FA152 Aerobat aerobatic variants, had been built worldwide.
