Chernobyl Day – 26 April

(First posted to Melbourne Indymedia.)
To mark the 18th anniversary of the world’s worst nuclear accident, Activists from Nuclear Free Australia (http://www.nukefreeaus.org) gathered at Flinders Street Station with banners, costumes, leaflets, and a drum full of “nuclear waste”, which unfortunately got spilled in the course of proceedings …

Banner and drum marked 'radioactive waste'

For last year’s event see here.

The numbers were very small, but many passers-by showed interest and welcomed the information leaflet being handed out by, amongst others, this obviously radio-active mutant:

Whoops… Just as well it wasn’t the real thing
