Beauty is a characteristic of a person, animal, place, object, or idea that provides a perceptual experience of pleasure or satisfaction. Beauty is studied as part of aesthetics, sociology, social psychology, and culture. An "ideal beauty" is an entity which is admired, or possesses features widely attributed to beauty in a particular culture, for perfection.
The experience of "beauty" often involves an interpretation of some entity as being in balance and harmony with nature, which may lead to feelings of attraction and emotional well-being. Because this can be a subjective experience, it is often said that "beauty is in the eye of the beholder."
There is evidence that perceptions of beauty are evolutionarily determined, that things, aspects of people and landscapes considered beautiful are typically found in situations likely to give enhanced survival of the perceiving human's genes.
The classical Greek noun that best translates to the English "beauty" or "beautiful" was κάλλος, kallos, and the adjective was καλός, kalos. However, kalos may and is also translated as ″good″ or ″of fine quality″ and thus has a broader meaning than only beautiful. Similarly, kallos was used differently from the English word beauty in that it first and foremost applied to humans and bears an erotic connotation.

Plot: A black and white, fantasy-like recreation of high-society gay men during the Harlem Renaissance, with archival footage and photographs intercut with a story. A wake is going on, with mourners gathered around a coffin. Downstairs is an elegant bar where tuxedoed men dance and talk. One of them has a dream in which he comes upon Beauty, who seems to reject him, although when he awakes, Beauty is sleeping beside him. His story and his visits to the jazz and dance club are framed by voices reading from the poetry and essays of Hughes and others. The text is rarely explicit, but the freedom of gay Black men in the 1920s in Harlem is suggested and celebrated visually.

What about beautiful women and men? What is pomp? Is abstract beauty a tool to solve problems? What is art? Why are earthlings so crazy about beauty and art? Is music an imitation of bird songs? And what has all this to do with lolcats, porn and diet drinks? beauty and the beast movie
Lines tally themselves at my eyes
A gift of time and years of laughter
My age is my virtue
My lips a little crooked when they slide in a smile
Give me kisses to remember
Perfect in my imperfection
Don’t change me, no
Don’t save me,
I’m just fine
And I’m better off without you
Don’t change me, no
Don’t try and save me,
I’m alright
And I’m better off without you
A few too many freckles at the tip of my nose
I’m not the perfect zero
But my curves are my virtue
I’ve got no secrets, I’ll bare my soul
Nothing to hide when a heart is open, oh
I am more than my reflection
We’re all searching for ourselves
Standing before our own eyes
Begging to be noticed
Snowflakes aren’t formed in a mold
Flowers don’t choose their shades
And butterflies don’t paint their wings
Don’t change me, no
Don’t try and save me,
I’m alright
And I’m better off without you
Don’t change me, no
Don’t try and save me,
I’m alright
And I’m better off without you
You told me
I should be younger, I should be thinner
Brighter, lighter, taller, softer, smaller
